Day 4

  Palm Springs

So once again it was a drive to Palm Springs to skate there free yet amazing bowl, which was meant to be a replica of the "Nude Bowl" but that's very debatable to say the least, Nick (The Gimp) Smith's toe infection was now getting really messy so now he is full time camera man....

This time we had a large group of the USA MAS'ers to skate with, Pete, Mark, Chris, Tim, Mike, as well as Mark & Johnny. Everyone skated the parts of the park they liked that suited there level, Andrew was going for is broad slide rock & rolls and Ewan pulled off a great carve out of the bowl and onto Marks board, first attempt, both these pics have been seen on "Concrete Deciples" & "Skate & Annoy", as ever the sun was taking it's toll and after 4 hours we head off to Fontana,

We didn't really skate here since it was a Saturday and it was Zoo'ed, but I got a few runs in, this has to be one of the best little parks I have skated, from the basic interlocking bowls and mini flow section, to the combi bowl. Then we head off to Uplands full pipe.

This place still gives me goose bumps, it's BIG & SCARY and you have to give it respect, seeing Ewans and Nicks face was a picture, "What the Fuck!" type of look

Andrew and I found our lines from last year very quickly and Ewan was very quick to catch up, Nick's toe infection had spread and he felt it was best not to skate and stick to holding the camera again. Mark had hit this place a few times since last year and he had it dialed, so good to see everyone feeling good on a board and progressing.... well other than Johnny would said his legs hurt ... the BIG girl !!!! :)

Sadly this is where Andrew slammed from 10.15 up the full pipe and fractured his skull, 911 was called and 5 mins later police, ambulance and paramedics appeared, several mins later we got Andrew into the ambulance and we headed to Arrowhead Hospital where CAT scans and X-rays were taken to show the extent of the damage, after several hours the details of the accident were shared with the guys and everyone shared in the shock to find out the extent of the head trauma.

Little could be done by us so we headed home to return in the morning, to find Andrew no better and very agitated, the swelling of his brain had increased as well as the blood on his brain.

Again we could do anything and it was increasingly obvious that he wasn't remembering anything of the accident, but while he was being examined the doctor said I think his speech is slurred, the nurse replied, no he is just English, which did make us smile.

The following hours were difficult enough for everyone deciding what we had to do and what was best for Andrew. We called the hospital several times a day to get updates on Andrews condition, No change was the answer.
