Airdrie

I bunked off North Ayrshire on Sunday, as I had to go up to Stirling, but cunningly arranged a route via Airdrie...... I'll try and post some pics here, but it's got a nice siamesed bowl I'm sure will keep MASers amused for a couple hours. It's right beside the leisure centre at Rawyards, which is more or less the road out to Cumbernauld.....

There's a small round bowl, about 3 foot deep, I'd say, and an elongated 5.5 foot bowl over the hip (name ?). Steel coping alround excepts at the hip where it's got roll-ins.

For being an open park, it was pretty clean, although there was quite a bit of red-blaze dust (it's next to the cooncil pitches...) in the bowl which made it over-slidy for me in patches. Bring a brush, and it'll be pretty good.

Big plus is the snack-van that sits in the car-park....bacon buttie, 2 buttered rolls and a huge cuppa for £2.

.....and finally, overview of the rest of park.....

Note that the bowl seems to have been added after the main park, so the lights at the moment shine mainly over main/old bit. I think Angus, Scott and PeeTurrr found it pretty dim up at the bowl..... One of the local lads said they're putting in another pylon/light behind the bowl, so it should be OK then. Dunno when it goes up, mind......
