Nope still not open. Prob June/July by the sounds of it. Not sure why there isn't more of a fuss about it as it looks as though it will be great

Looked on Interweb only thing that came up was a wooden indoor park in East Kilbride which I hadn't heard of either

Yes, EK Park been there for about 3 years now. It's ok but they never got round to b uilding the bowl.

Heard the bowl in the new concrete indoor is to be 8.5 deep which should be good. Seem some recent build pics but still an awful lot to be done.

There were some photos on facebook last week that show cement block walls with coping set, but no transitions yet.

Think these guys are more Belshill than East Kilbride, but I love the accent (and songs about Buckfast!)
Try and stick with it - a great song!

Why has there been so little information & promotion on this park, if it's a commercial concern that doesn't quite add up?

No idea. If it was my concern I'd be promoting it all over the place. Maybe ther will be something once they have a confirmed opening date which appears to have slipped again.

Have you been inside the place to get the pics, how local are you to this, any buzz locally about this place, is it purely commercial, cos that place must be expensive to build without grants which is what most parks build & survive on?

Not been inside. A friend of a friend has been working there and posted some pics on facebook. Its a private concern. To my knowledge the unit is owned so no rent to pay as such. 10 minutes from my house so cant wait for it to open. Yes there is a bit of a buzz about the place but promotion wise its been very quiet.

Seems to have as no date announced yet. They had hoped first week in July.

Im not complaining but East Kilbride a bit bonkers skate park wise. Theres an outdoor concrete park. Not geat mind. Then about 3 years ago an indoor opened called EKPark. This closed down about 2 or 3 months ago. Again not a great park. Never actually built the bowl but it was dry which is a plus up here. Now theres a save ekpark facebook page saying that a charity has been set up and the place is going to open again despite it being only 2 miles from the new concrete park. East Kilbride is a reasonable size but its no city.

Anyway give me a shout when you are thinking on heading up this way

I don't think *promotion* is going to be an issue with this park. Word will certainly get out quickly if it is as hot as it looks. As long as their spreadsheets actually make sense and they don't have to charge more than the market will bear, or fit in more people than will actually fit, they should do fine.

If they don't hurry up and open in the next month, I'm not going to be able to skate the thing before I fly back to the states, which would be a real tragedy.

They have the start of their web page up. Prices don't look too bad.

Yeah, there's no indication there they don't know what they're doing. Off-peak pricing makes sense. £4 for two off-peak (member) hours is a great deal. Staying open until 10 every evening is good. Together that makes an affordable evening session.

Bloody hell the pictures dont prepare you for the size of these bowls. Going to take a while to get used to skating this place. Oh yrs and probably the poshest skatepark I have ever been into. Took out a membership and expected to receive a card but its all fingerprint technology! If you like bowls this is well worth a trip north
