one off the wrist

So yesterday I skated the XC for the first time, me and my mate had been planning it for a couple of weeks. Got the day booked off work, but I told the wife I was heading to a conference in Stevenage. If she knew I was using a day’s holiday for a skate trip my limited weekend skating allowance would no doubt suffer. So, she cycled off to work and I got changed into my skate gear and got my board and bag together upstairs. A couple of minutes later the front door opens with my wife there shouting up the stairs that she had snapped the chain on her bike and if I could drive her to the tube station. The panic I had in quickly getting out of skate gear, throwing my board under the bed and changing into conference clothes was like almost being caught having a crafty one off the wrist…
