Postby Chris W » Wed Nov 19, 2014 12:43 pm

Guys, I posted this on Facebook last night, the first post of my blog of my dream trip to California in July 2014

http://pch-diary.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11 ... n.html?m=1

The first three posts will all be about the planning process. Then it will be a day by day blog.

Hope you enjoy the read and it inspires you to follow your dreams too

Good stuff Chris, look forward to reading about your trip. Solid Surf skatepark was one of the few skateparks I got to in the late 70s. Family went for a day out to Southport and I would stay there all afternoon. Probably only went about 3 times around 78 and 79 but always remember it.

Excellent start Chris, nicely written. I've been wondering when you were going to get your adventures written for us to read.

Looking forward to the next bit, please post up when you update the blog.

Excellent stuff indeed. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of your story.

Interestingly (for me anyway), what grabbed my attention as much as the skating part of your story was that postcard from Southport in the 70s. My dad worked in horticulture all his life and every year from the mid 60s to the mid 70s our family holiday was in Southport whilst my dad worked at the annual flower show, a true busman's holiday for him. I've a lot of fond memories of the place. I think 75 was the last time we went. If only we'd gone a few more times, it would have coincided with the start of the skating scene there and I would have undoubtedly been drawn towards it. I bet you locals probably hated the holiday makers gatecrashing your scene, in true dog town style ;-)

Thanks for the encouragement guys. The next post about planning the trip is looking quite long, so I'm going to split it into two parts but trust me, there are going to be some moments you just won't believe if you are a skater. So I hope somenof you will stick with me through it.

Cheers

Enjoyed reading that, and it encouraged me to go check out the Southport park facebook page. i went there once, and I'm pretty sure I had a go on that ¾ pipe
