ooh me head ooh me ribs

I really didnt want to be visiting this part of the forum but I've been riding my luck for quite a while (well since my last injury) and I dont think i'm going to be skating for the next couple of weeks so i I feel it necessary to re-count the whole sorry tale, I hung up in the bowl at the boardroom leicester a week and a half ago after I believe attempting a frontside air my memory is kind of vague............I've been learning to grab with my left hand in a representation of the tuck knee style, after years of style-less crab grabbing and have been incredibly stoked with the results, I was looking forward to an evening of left handed tuck kneeed frontside air practice, but it wasnt to be as I mentioned earlier I hung up. I must have landed arm to rib to shoulder to head judging by my injuries as a result I recieved a cut to the head and a bit of the old skull bongo (when my head hit the deck it actually went bong!!! inside my skull) and destroyed my glasses in the process............and i was skating on my jack jones after driving too leicester from Notts, Dave at the Broom patched my head and glasses up much thanks to Dave and i drove home a little dazed holding on by my finger nails not the best thing too do I know but my homing instinct really kicked in......
I've been concussed before (wandering around dean lane skate park having no idea where i lived or what had happened) so i wrote off the next couple of days as i knew I would be good for nothing and I was dopey as fuck with a bit of head injury anxiety thrown in, but as this wore off so my other injuries became apparent, I'm pretty sure i've broken a rib and i have a big old bruise on my arm and some wierd muscular tweaks going on in my shoulder needless to say I'm having a few weeks off skating oh yeah and i'm also suffering from post traumatic skate disorder I often day dream about all the gnarly tricks i plan to do and occasionally i hang up which makes me physically jump (usually when performing imaginary rock n rolls they have long been my arch enemy causing many real hang ups and endless sprained wrists) but in this last week in my head i'm hanging up on everything which is very uncool.................I think i may start wearing a helmet it kind of makes sense  and I may have been banned from going skating by myself which may be no bad thing.....

Bad luck Hank. Did you actually go to casualty? Should do really if you bang your hrad like that. Better safe than sorry.

Re: ooh me head ooh me ribs

No I didnt go to hospital, they didnt seem bothered last time I went in with a head injury so I just kind of kept a good watch on myself as did my long suffering lady love  , I did become more concerned about my ribs as these didnt start too hurt until maybe three days later and I almost treated myself too a visit too hospital but kept giving it 24 hours, two weeks later and all seems well anyways..................I'm thinking about the next session I'm landing layback airs to tail and not crashing and i'm wearing a helmet

Sorry I couldn't be there mate - but hope to skate with you on 9th April skatejam at the Boardroom. I love that mellow little bowl and it'll be good to have a razz round the street stuff without a million scooterists.

BTW. I broke my ribs last year so I know how you feel - every little knock or whatever and *crack* you've bust them again.

Hey Dom - glad you back on the board again mate. Helmet isn't a bad idea at all - I bounced the back of my head the other day and I swear I would have caved my skull in if i hadn't been wearing a lid.

Take it easy mate - let me know when you down this way again and we'll do Yate.
Mongo and proud!

Keep calm...and carry on skating
