hello all

At last a group of people who don't think skateboarding is for the under 12's. People I know tell me I'm too old to skate, I tell them I already know that, then I carry on!!! Now, after decades of cruising round on longboards and at the tender age of 48 its time I learned to ride a bowl...but how???? Rampworx is full of kids (including my own) who point and laugh, Bootle Bowl is...well, in Bootle and looks a bit pants. First thing I need to do is hook myself up with a new board (any excuse  ) Then heed any advice you guys can give me...easy, at this rate I'll soon be Lard...sorry Lord of Dogtown, well in my own mind anyway :D
Some tell me its a mid life crisis, I point out I never got over teenage angst !!!
Anyone here near Liverpool?

Re: hello all

Hey, Welcome aboard.

Not in Liverpool myself but not too far away, over near Chester.

I think the small bowl at Runcorn is a good place to learn to go round n' round, not to scary looking and there's usually a few Massers there .... the weather's gettin a bit shit for outdoor parks now tho.

There's also the bowl at Rampcity in Blackpool, bit of a long way to go, but again there's usually some Massers there to make it a good session.

Might see ya around somewhere.

Re: hello all

Welcome! b~

I try and attend Tuesday nights at Ramp City, but funds have been sadly lacking in recent weeks. It a great place. I've not seen anyone pointing and laughing at my dogshit style of skating. (at least I've not caught them!). In fact when I slammed hard on my right hip, a little scooterist actually asked if I was OK and then suggested I skate it off, just cruise around! 8)

Alright mate and welcome onboard. Im originaly from Birkenhead, live in Telford now. I used to skate Edge lane park back in the seventies. Did you ever get down there? Me and two mates Keith Henderson and Mazzy were regulars there. Bollocks to what anyone else thinks just enjoy yourself. Cheers Paul
Started skateing around 76/77. Had an American friend who brought his board over on holiday. skated until the mid 80's and have got the bug again. Have'nt broken anything yet, so all is good. Cheers Paul
