Steak Skateboards - hello MAS!

Hi there MASsers,

As an older skater who has been on board for nearly 23 years I thought it was time to put something back into the skateboard universe. After spending decades riding skateboards, reading about skateboards, watching skateboarders and basically living and breathing skateboarding, myself and a few friends decided to set up a little skate company. We want to represent the best of British skateboarding and we have set up a team of really talented skaters, some you may have heard of, others you may not have ..... yet!

As a MASser myself I know the importance of good quality skateboards decks and of supporting younger and older skateboarders alike. Anyway, I hope you enjoy our vibe if you take the time to check it out. We have some awesome edits and will be revealing our new team over the next few weeks. Have a look at our Facebook (don't abuse me) page and Twitter account if you get a minute. Our website will be online in the next few weeks too so keep your eyes peeled.

Looking forward to shredding with you guys in the near future....in fact we will be at the Leeds Jam this Saturday night for some Steak radness.

Cheers,
Steak

Have enjoyed what I've seen so far. You have the right attitude, outlook n drive to make it work. I'm proper stoked on you going for this as you are no doubt aware its not an easy option. You have some really rad dudes (does that sound too surfy???), whatever...you have the right outlook, product is good, best of luck with everything, its unlikely but if can do owt to help let me know.

Hope to skate soon ( will force another of me mates to get married so I have an excuse to come back......)

Re: Steak Skateboards - hello MAS!

Nice one guys, thanks for the positive comments. Been getting loads of footage of our boys over the last couple of weeks across Notts and Leeds. Looking forward to releasing officially our riders names and there are some banging edits coming out in the very near future. Exciting times. Like Switchchimp said we are aware this isn't an easy option but we hope the skating and the quality products will do all the talking for us. It's all a bit of fun just like skating is meant to be.....we are just enjoying pushing sick young skaters and having a laugh at the same time.

UK pressed and manufactured decks too.

Not to piss on anyone's bonfire but another board company making only popsicles with logo type graphics isn't exactly what I'd call 'special'... :|

Well uk manufactured decks is pretty unusual I thought - I may be wrong though....

Seems like a good team line up too and I'd rather support a small company than a huge american corporation.

Could be that the other deck isn't a straight forward logo graphic - that is my only bug bear , too many logo decks out there - not enough good, thought provoking and interesting graphics.

Not hating on them. Few posts above you'll see me wishing them good luck. I meant it, and in a way, still do.

Is just that, to be fair, when someone introduces his company with... ahem... pretentious is not the right word... let's say... grandiose words like 'put something back into the skateboard universe' and 'we want to represent the best of British skateboarding'... well... seeing another popsicle (nothing against popsicles - I'm skating one for street and small transitions and loving it...) oriented company... with logo graphics... well... just glad I didn't hold my breath, that's it... :|

Re: Steak Skateboards - hello MAS!

I must admit I am kinad dissapointed with Steak kinda latched onto MAS and the jam we were having and even turned up with a few beers but then just seem to use the event to spend time filming their riders doing all the usual flippy stuff. There was a promise of an Edit of the proceedings but that never materialised i suspect because all the footage was of their riders I feel a bit like they latched on to our jam to get the park to film in for cheap as the street section was largely empty.
Steak dont seem to produce any boards i would consider riding all bog standard popsickles I dont see why they think they are putting anymore back in to skating than any other firms. Shiners put loads back into skating I put together a MAS jam they donated loads of products and vouchers Vans have done the same and they sell stuff I would actually buy they dont go on about supporting skating they just do and have been for years.
I dont want to put a downer on Steak but they are just another british popsickle maker no better worse than any other but they didnt deliver on a promise of the video so good job I am more Chicken or Fish kinda person.

Re: Steak Skateboards - hello MAS!

Ouch! Some fair points in there and ones that we shall definitely learn from. One massive regret is the lack of footage from the Leeds Jam....big mistake on our part and probably a lack of control over filming duties on the night. Cas Vegas Karl...hands up in that respect. We will try and make it up to you all another time if you let us.

Starting a new company is something that is riddled with issues that are hard to control when it comes to skaters, filmers, business etc etc. We are starting with good intentions, not grandiose ones I hope. We genuinely want to have fun and support upcoming riders and lets face it theres no money in this! Just fun times hopefully and some good skating.

Our decks will not just be popsicles....we are older skaters behind this and we know the need for different decks and we will get there. No hard feelings fellas I hope. Just give us time and we will show where we are coming from. Maybe a good idea to stay out of the forums now i think.

I am not hating anyone i simply posted that a promise was renaged on and that all the filming was of there own riders who really didnt interact much with anyone. I am prepared to give people a chance but I haven't seem anything to put steak anymore in tune with MAS members than anyother board maker.

We have listened and we have drilled. Steak pool deck is now double drilled so you can have your choice of 14.5" or 15" wheelbase.
