My new board

Postby WoodyAJ » Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:41 pm

Aparently there is a tradition that a photo of your new board should be posted. Here it is;
Image
Green wheels are faster!
:mrgreen:

What can I say;
When a mas offers you a go on his board and two days later you see the wheels that were the dogs when you last rode a skateboard, new in a shop, things happen.

What can I say; I like fruit. The blue wheel is actually a real grapey purple just doesn't come out too well in the photo.
I have two ankle biters that are big foots and I'm thinking about the patio comment............
Fruit bowl....... lol Going to remember that one. :mrgreen:

Green wheels are faster........ so I may go round in circles.

Happy to kick the arse out of it:

Evidence: Boot of skateboarder's car contains odd roller blades.
Assumption: The skateboarder dispatched the booters and buried them.
As the skater is a middle-aged man, probably a homeowner, and may have been a devotee of Brookside: The patio is an obvious place to reference, in the whole "murder/burial" scenario.

There.

Er. I am glad you like your new board.

Brookside......... Brookside..........
No new patio but if Anna Friel was helping to lay it I'd be off to B&Q pronto, apparently she's good at patios.
If the sun represented the path PaulW is probably keeping pluto company :lol: but I liked the tangent.

Mostly ride Peghill at the moment so the Cubics seem good, big diameter and 95a to ride the bumps and suspect transitions. MAS dude turned up with Bones Bowlrider wheels which are same diameter and hardness as the cubics but not so wiiiiiiiiiide, probably the better choice.

Only just come back skateboarding so the mini cubics will do fine for now. Oldskool so I enjoy the fruit bowl look.

Time to post a piccie of the original old board, getting carried away now. But hey! If it keeps the community alive. :mrgreen:

Hey... never tired of seeing photos of setups, especially as you make the journey through the decades in double time (harder wheels, faster bearings).
I blew a load of cash and time tinkering with decks and trucks and wheels. Now? I skate something that's thinner and longer than I ever skated BITD, but it works for me. I went through the whole bit about trying to find my old board, then do it using "new" stuff, then trying all sorts of other bits of tat. It's fun. Ruinous to the wallet. None of it makes you a better skater!

Now. Totally derailed. Anyone want to buy some 92a 60mm NoSkoolz? barely skated...

You brain makes up excuses for you body's failings, I though my new bigger red wheels would do the trick, along with my bones bushings, truth be told the red wheels don't feel a lot different and the expensive bushings were just too sloppy, got a nice set of shorty's yellows, they do feel more stable though...

I nearly thought about buying these ones too.
Had two sets up until recently, swapped one set for some 78a 60mm's.

I still like them.

Well. I'm sitting here NAKED* looking at a set of 60/92a and 65/88a - neither are ever going to be skated. Now, if only I had a lathe...
Any homebrewed lathe suggestions received with thanks.

Hmmm....take the bearings out, spindle through the wheel. Grip in a power drill. Power drill in a vice. Nice sharp chisel on some kinda solid rest.....steady as you go. File to finish.

But then I have a lathe 8)

Did the 'reduce the width of a wheel' thing way back when on a set of slick willies, 14 at the time and only had a hacksaw. You can imagine the finish but I swear they went faster!!!!!!!!! May have even seen off big red krypts. :mrgreen:

I've got a new one, too. It's the 64 impaleya from Creature - 8.8 - squared off, with hot rod, multi-layered irridescent detailing. It's a fancy twat.
