My old board

Postby WoodyAJ » Tue Oct 05, 2010 10:01 pm

Gents, time to swing the lantern and reminisce.
My old board; circa 1979. Dog Town Skates Jim Muir deck, Tracker xtracks, powerflex 9s and RHP bearings.
Obtained this board with 6 months dinner and pocket money, it probably cost more than the set up I've bought recently. The Dog Town set up was nearly 30 years ago and approx £100!
Check out the tail saver, a piece of mahogony and it's even been reversed to get use from both sides. There was a nose saver but just the screws have survived.
Visited mum and dad one weekend to find they had let my nephew loose on my board and he had left it in the yard in the rain for weeks!!!

Image

Bearings are a bit minging.

Image

Not sure if I have forgiven him yet :x

Decided a new set of truck cushions and bearings will see it right with maybe a light scrub.

This last photo is of the set up that was next on the list - only bought the deck! Twat!
Anyway, starter for ten no confiring; make and model.

Yep, I'm going for Andrecht too.
Due to the shape of the stingers and tail.

Andy wrote:Btw your the only other person I've ever heard of who had a set of rhp trucks

He said he had RHP bearings not trucks, cloth ears (or eyes).

I had a Dogtown Jim Muir, only deck I've ever snapped.

One of you dudes has hit the nail on the head! I'll post the photos as soon as.

Bit alarmed to hear the Jim Muir snapped I was hoping to give it a whirl once refurbished and I'm no light weight these days.

Now, where is that camera.

Oh I snapped it years ago flying out of the side of a flatbank onto the floor from about 5' up, must have landed a bit awkward.

Apologies, photo quality is crap.

Image

but it still looks ace from the front. :o

Image

It's been in the attic for 30yrs still in its plastic wrapper and jiffy bags.

I've got a spare set of mini cubics - three purple and one green, how cool would that be?
Never been ridden, would it be a crime to scratch it up, should it be donated to a skateboarding museum? Decisions......... decisions.

Makes me chuckle - in its day it was rad because it was concave........
Sooooooo wide, could almost bodyboard with it.

I'll wait and see if Fiona Bruce and the crew come to town.
