My stolen 1979 G&S Warptail 2 Square-Tail has been re-created....finally.

With Kryptonics C-65 Red (OG) and Tracker Mid Tracks (re-issues).

Decals: WT2 were re-created, Trackers are re-issues and Kryptonics are NOS.

Does it even look close?? ..- (except for the nose guard)

1980 pic of me at a schoolyard.

Don't worry, I do. :D A Yamaha PF-800 with a Shure V15xMR ctg. It actually gets outclassed by the rest of the system though. The rest of it is McIntosh (not the computer people) and Klipsch!

That was more than half the battle with that thing! Just finding them!

The Kryptonics bulls-eyes came from South Carolina, the Trackers came from Tracker (thank God) but I could only lay my hands on ONE Warptail 2 sticker. And IT came from Great Britain (to the US).

Then, it hit me: I'm in charge of very expensive color-copier at work. I just needed to find some peel-n-stick paper stock similar to a bumper sticker. I tracked down a couple places but no luck. But a whole 1-block from my office is a business called Fast Signs. The guy there reached into a big garbage bin and pulled out a 2-foot X 2-foot sheet of the glossy gold and said "Merry Christmas". I kept the OG WT2 sticker in case THIS board gets broke or stolen again. The ones on there are the ones I made at work.

It was light blue but I'm not sure if I'm gonna put a nose guard on there or not. The one that was on there broke (ring around one of the screws) and I took it off before the board was stolen. I only know this because I still have the guard in my box of hardware in my basement. Alas it broke in two a couple of weeks ago from being dry and brittle.

What I would really like is a blue Space Plate for the tail.

I'll put some pics up tonight of both sound systems....

Question - Your deck has C series Red Kryps on it.(white nylon core)

Did the original have 2nd Gen Red Kryps with the metal washer core (not usually visible)?

When I originally got the first deck it already had the stickrs on it. Where I have the bullseye Kryptonics stickers I'm pretty sure now the old board had the Star Trac stickers. So I'm assuming that the deck did have the metal washer Kryps on it before I got it. I don't think the Star Trac stickers would fit on there now because the G&S emblem is a bit larger than the one the old board had (and upside down). I'm wondering now if the deck I had was a Series I Warptail 2 and not the Series II such as the re-issue. The tail on the board I had had a much steeper and shorter sweep to it.

But, to answer your question, I bought the original 80' deck from a friend with no wheels or trucks. That's when I got some Trackers and the C-65's.

Well, I said I’d do it… :D

For reference, the widescreen TV is a 40". And the first system all weighs around 1,100 lbs. (500 kilos).
The second system is just a bunch of leftover parts I had boxed up in the basement.

In the bottom pic (second system) the two small wood boxes on the vinyl cabinet, they really are.......45's.

Here's the original nose guard. And it never really did fit that well. The curve of the nose on the WT2 was too obtuse and would leave a 1/4" gap when viewed from the top. That's probably how it broke to begin with.

My system is pretty moderate. Here's where I'm usually at for the HiFi Porn. Headed up by MasterLu (Ivan Messer) of Florida. Over $1.2 million (739,575.95 GBP) in his Florida system alone!!

The G&S was about $400 (245 GBP). The wheels were the most expensive part from e-Bay.

The living room stereo with the TV was $35,000 (21,461 GBP). No e-Bay here.

Excellent work. I'm working on simialr project. Have already sourced some ACS 580s and a set of Orange Powerflex 5s. The deck has been a problem. Have nearly pressed the buy button a couple of times on a reissue deck, but the WT2 sticker doesn't appear to have Stace Peralta written on it and no success trawling the net for one either. Guess I'm just gonna have to wait till I'm lucky enough to get an original..

Mi parents threw mi original WP2 in the bin! :( :(
I must buy some more sense!

Well, I'll let you in on something. The WT2 stickers on the bottom of mine aren't "real" either. I was only able to find one of them in the UK (shipped ot the US) but had a devil of a time finding another. So I decided I could live with a facsimile. The problem there was finding the right glossy-paper stock that was peel-n-stick. Then it hit me, and you see it practically every day! A BUMPER STICKER!! So I scouted some places in my area that print bumper stickers but no luck on getting them to make only a few of these. So, I'm at work one day and looked to my right and was reminded that, along with many other things, I'm in charge of a Canon C5051 color-copier. So the process to make one was realized and still only needed the paper stock. That day I went out to lunch in downtown Cincinnati (walking) and saw a van with their company name/advertisement..."Fast Signs". The ad was applied to the van in vinyl. So that told me their store has access to the very material I needed. They had a store not 2-blocks from my office. I talked to the guy at the desk and he smiled and motioned to follow him. We walked into their production area and he pulled out an 8' section of the peel-n-stick gold that I needed. He cut off a 2' square section of it and handed it to me and said "Merry Christmas". Had some further chit-chat with him and was on my way back to my office.

So that's what's on my WT2....fakes! :)
