Started going up to ride the OWP bowl at Oxford - it rocks, but Im finding it helluva hard to get a good line going, seems to be set up better for Goofy riders or BMX...

This bowl does rock. but there is little time to work out your next move. Easter jam with BBQ and BEER tomorrow, might see you there.

Nope - I live in Cornwall but work in West London, so pop up to see my buddy Ben for a skate mid week.

Sean's skating was really inspiring to see - he was carving fakie around the bowl way better than I could forwards!

Had a real good sesh at OWP this week, was super quiet, me and Ben had the bowl to ourselves for the second part of the evening. Finally managed to get the nerve to hit the coping and started making (very short and whippy) frontside grinds.

this one is nothing really, but i like the way it came out, everything blurred apart from the skater:

Back for more next week.

A nice mellow eve skate, made my first rock fakie/tail stall combo in there, so quietly stoked. Still got shown up by Ben ripping tho.

i'd love to but its a bit far. i'm going as its kind of half way between here and luton airport where i'm heading on Friday afternoon :(

you couldn't tell me how deep the shallow and deep ends are in the bowl could you. I'm hoping its not over 5ft :?

It's mostly 5-6 foot all round, the pool bit is about 8foot and the extension is about 9 foot. If you can drop in you'll be fine, just carve about, find your confidence and don't worry about the lip too much at first. I find half the fun of OWP is finding the lines, which are endless in that bowl, and working out which way to go frontside to backside etc. Let me know how you get on!

Wicked old boy session last night (until I buggered my knee.) Good vibes though, tuesday nights at OWP rock! Only a few more weeks though before the evenings draw in too far... :(

Looking for an indoor spot for winter evenings!

yeah I reckon I've got about 30-50 days before the deck goes away for the winter and the snowboard comes out 8)

Every winter I promise myself that i'm going to try and do a bit of skating through the winter but it never happens. Hopefully this winter i'll keep my promise to myself!

skated owp on Friday for an hour or so.

its a tricky bowl for sure. I was dropping in from the right in the first picture and going over the waterfall/mound and carving round the bowl. couldn't really find a line that I could generate enough speed to really get the coping though :( Only way I could get to it was just dropping in and going straight to the spine like a mini ramp.

think its one that you'd need skate for a few sessions to get used to 8)

The easiest line for speed in my book (if you're regular) is to drop from the hip just outside the pool section and kick backside on the big wall, then aim for the camel and back along the long wall where you started. You can generate some serious speed on this line, and its pretty easy. Not much chance of hitting the coping tho, unless you wanna try a 50/50 at mach 1!

Yeah it took me most of last summer to figure it out, although some of that was finding my skate legs again after a long break. The lines are there, and it's way fun when you find them, if you go back give me a shout and I'll try and meet you. I would say try and make a Tuesday night but the evenings are pulling right in now so it's probably a bit far for a long trip.
