The Works Skatepark
Just now ·
It’s with great sadness that after 6 years of positive impact through our Skatepark, Education and Community programmes The Work Skatepark Charity has had to make the decision to cease trading and close the doors.

This decision has not been taken lightly and follows months of work trying to salvage a very difficult situation. The board of trustees, staff and supporters have done everything they possibly could to prevent this course of action. However the summer heatwave, combined with changes in funding across different aspects of the charity have led to a position that is no longer viable.

We would like to place on record our appreciation to all the past and present staff, volunteers and supporters of the charity that over the years have given so much to creating a special place.

If you would like any further information, or if you have outstanding bookings or ongoing contracts please contact either;

I think the park hes been there for around 12 years

Meeting this Thursday 10th Jan 7pm at The work's to discuss saving the park

The Story behind LS-TEN
LS-TEN·MONDAY, 7 JANUARY 2019
LS-TEN is a new Charity set up by volunteers in January 2019 in response to the closure of the Works Skatepark Charity.
Our Mission: To Provide a safe, engaging and inclusive environment, reduce inequality and raise aspirations using sport and education.
We have a world class skate park to provide an outstanding free sport leisure facility, and The Lounge Cafe, providing a relaxed and inviting space open to all. We deliver Education and community programmes to a diverse audience meeting a range of needs.
LS-TEN are a highly skilled and passionate team of people and although we are starting from scratch we know that with the support of the wider community we can deliver a charity and service that provide increased opportunities for so many people in the local area and across the region as a whole.

If you’d like to support LS-TEN, or for more information contact us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or via email to [email protected]

Possible reopening at end of Jan if they can get enough funding/donations , last of staff working for free at present!

But there seems to be some strange goings on with opposing offers, vested interests slagging each other off, Pah!

Well, it appears that LS10 is now busy & thriving if tonight's turnout is anything to go by, between 4 - 6 there's a biggish University skate group that rocks up, mixed in with various others, then 6 - 10 it's mainly the regular skate only night crew so you can skate the whole night from 4pm if you want to :D And Yay, Drop in's are back on the table again after a few months absence :lol:

Any idea what they’re planning to do with the space? I bet it doesn’t involve a lot of skate friendly transition.
