Might sound simple to some but finally nailed my launch outs this morning. 5 in a row with a clean catch. Usually drop the board, leave the board in the bowl or send the board flipping into a frenzy. Dead chuffed :D

You're not supposed to catch it - it should fly off at high speed at about head height towards the nearest scooterist (preferably one looking the other way)

Re: Did you skate today?

Another great session tonight!!!

Went in with confidence on a low. Drop ins suffering, turns suffering, generally shit......managed the following all tonight:

3ft drop in to BS carve on the mini
4ft drop in then thought sod it -> straight to 5ft drop in....landed all successfully
fakie revert over the box
.....and the biggest scalp of the night -> a "fly out"....had given up on these and pulled it out tonight. Ash even caught it on tape.

Krammer - I am up for it! Got to get a pass with the family.....I want to roll in from the top!!!

To say I'm stoked us an understatement!!!...and I've not mentioned what my 6year old pulled off. Safe to say he's fukkin nuts.

Skated down hill on a cruiser with OJ's and realised there was no chance I could get off until there was no more incline! Not too scary, but scary enough without all my pads and helmet. Old Skool!

Re: Did you skate today?

A sunny early morning 40 minute session at Meanwhile before work.

Got roll ins and frontside axle stalls to frontside axle drops - two things I've had fear factor over for ages. Chuffed. Now need to take them to something bigger than the nice gentle Meanwhile 3ft top bowl.

Pete, can you tail stall? If so you could try a fakie pivot as your trick on the other side to a rock fakie. I'd seen people do these and thought they looked pretty stylish but hard - found out the other day they are actually quite easy and if you can tail stall you can do these.

Ride in as if to tail stall, then put pressure on the tail as if to do a normal stall, but at the same time rotate slightly, turning your head to look over your other shoulder, that should take you up pivoting on the back truck, then just look back into the ramp to rotate back and re-enter as you would from a tail stall.

[This relies on the theory that as you ride in to a tail stall you are looking inside your body over your back shoulder (which at that time you are leading with) at the coping, the rotation comes from changing to look over your front shoulder]

Third time in five days in glorious sunshine - who'd have thunk it after the appalling summer we had until now.

Pete, on your ankle hammering. I'm guessing from your location you have pair of ski / snowboard socks - wear them and bunch em down by the ankles - gives a bit of protection from the dreaded board to ankle thwack.

yup, had an hour at 8am nobody there :)

finally got the bollocks to do the roll in to the bowl, took a few attemps to covert the speed into anything useful as it drops straight to the deep end! At last I dont have to climb into the bowl any more! So fukin embarrasing! haha

just need to work out dropping in now!

Re: Did you skate today?

Tues evening skate at Halton was running too late to get to Ramp City, was going to wait till after the hols but glad I didn't only as about 10-15 older kids so manageable and even the scooters knew the score - some are actually starting to pump the bowl. Defintely worth a trip, park was bone dry even after some rain during the day. Would be great to see another skater there sometime...

Watch out if you've not been on board for a while, I've had a 4 week break and was sketchy as hell, quite a few tumbles even fell on my arse running down a transition.

Need to find out if the ehm summers weather has delayed the new park at Kendal should have been ready by now - nothing online yet..

here`s the snake run at south sea me and my boys visited last friday, surface was rough but great fun to ride. The only down side were the scooters it was like trying to skateboard in an ants nest where all the ants ride scooters , if you know what I mean .

3 runs in the bowl before it rained last night :(

whats barnstaple like ben? where abouts in barnstaple is it?

actually..just looked on your blog and found a video, looks good.

Interestingly you mentioned the Royan bowl having a roll in, the bowl in chamonix also has a roll in to the deep end, it means you can take more speed straight in. The new bowls in geneva also have roll ins, maybe its a french/swiss thing :?:

The bowl is in Rock Park.It is not ideal in that the shallow end is too small and the depend has an extension rather than extending all the way round. At 8 foot deep with 1 1/2 foot of vert it could be considered gnarley...but hey it is home.

Yes - back to Midsomer Norton - only one other more "mature" skater there, one of the local schools was shut so scooters galore, we had annoying drizzle and I took a hipper early on :(

So all in all, last Friday was 100 times better.

But did get to see one of the local bandits squash a scooter kid, who wasn't looking, was going across the BMXer's line and talking to his mate at the same time - so not a total waste of time

Re: Did you skate today?

Finally..............

First time out today in weeks other than the odd 2 min ollie in the road outside the house when its been dry (not often).

Glorious sunshine so me and the kids out to the park (not skate park) so they can ride their bikes for a couple of hours..... and I can get a wee sk8 in as well :)

Just a nice wee cruise about and some shuvits, slides and failed kickflips (ha).

Getting some sk8 training for them as well - getting their balance - as long as I can steer them to sk8ing and not scooters then my dad work is complete :-)

Felt good but my shoes are goosed - couple more sessions and they'll be worn right through..... bugger.

Cheers,

hp ..-

Hav`nt skated for about 6 months, fitness has gone completely down the pan. So............had a day off work today & promised myself that i`d go for a skate this morning!
Got up, outside was wet :x so seeing as though my stepson has discovered skating(not cos of me, more to do with mates) I roped him into coming skating with me this evening! Decided to avoid the parks & went to the local business park for a blast around the streets. He tried to teach me pop shove its & I tried to show him.....well, stuff  Feel better now!!

Re: Did you skate today?

super stoked for my youngest boy freddie
he dropped into the bowl at hollingdean today after months of micro scootering and bringing his board along on the off chance he may want to skate it.
I have to thank the steves and nick because with out other skaters around showing him just how much fun skating is he may of just carried on with his scooter. Thanks guys, fred just wants to skateboard now

Great to see Freddie drop the bowl today and you could see he was chuffed with himself, and so he should be.
Really well done and skateboarding is the way to go ..-
