I think these over 45s are the poor bastards with nothing much else going for them except work, which might be the majority and I feel sorry for them.

We, on the other hand, have something so exciting in our lives we don't need further stimulation. Well... not much.

Probably right. When I go to my local it's always the same people in the same seats and they are probably all in the 45+ age group. Most probably 55+. Doesn't matter what day you go in, they are always there. When I worked in pubs I think most pubs were the same.

I guess by a certain age the kids have left home (well from that generation anyway, people have kids later these days and property is too expensive) and all there is ,is work and death for a lot of people.

funny thing last friday i went for a carve round and i passed the local working mens club and a comment was made that i was a bit old to be skateboarding, i just said given the choice of skating round keeping fit(ish) or stood outside a working mens club with a pint in one hand and a cig in the other and then going back inside to listen to somebody trying to sing i'd take the childish skatebaord everyday. i'm still waiting for the witty retort.

it's a minority of people who drink every day, I am lucky to have a couple a week & usually only if I'm going out for a meal or with a take away, the one's you see sat in pubs having nothing else of interest to do, probably never have & still think you have to drink to excess to be accepted as one of the lads, pathetic really, anyhow people lie in surveys so take them with a pinch of salt.
