SQUATTERS RIGHTS

Postby GoR64 » Tue Mar 17, 2020 7:55 am

The year is 2020, the international health pandemic hit harder than anybody could have foreseen, leaving thousands dead, and twisting the survivors into deranged panicked versions of themselves... The streets are empty, and many homes abandoned by families of the elderly unable to sell after the market crash.

Skateparks are left a no man's land... A putrid hotbed of malformed scooter children hissing at each other as they roll in ever tighter circles, their bizarre mating ritual only ever broken by one trying to 'whip' and pathetically landing with both feet on the ground. 'Legitness' they chant over, and over again...

The former members of MAS were hit the hardest, having quit sessioning bowls in favour of Netflix and pisswasser, their enforced isolation seemingly lasting forever, it was only supposed to be two weeks...

This is a pure time for skateboarders, a second coming where DIY is the way of life, and monetised council arranged play areas are a distant memory; Street is the word.

Welcome to the new Middle Age Shred.

Tis true. I skated an industrial estate car park the other day. Best skate I have had in ages.

I think people forget how much fun it is just ducking about on curbs, otherwise before you know it you only get one skate in a week at a park, then life gets in the way and it turns into a monthly session, then slowly, not at all.

I think we can find the positives in this little pandemic, and use it as an excuse to go explore again!

Maybe kick some life back into an old forum. :D

Skated at the front of my local town hall last night. Smooth drive and nicely lit. Perfect for practising flat ground stuff. A few ollies, manuals, shuvits etc. My local, Ramp1, has dumped the bowl so I rarely go now.

Am I right in thinking you have some newish concrete in Warrington now? I hace a really bad (3 metal ramps) local, but 2 mins from me, guess I'm going to have to hit that soon. I also have a great spot for flatland and a local DIY, it's just a case of if we can get out there now.

I think more video sharing is probably the way to go on here, for some reason filming has become a massive hassle for me, but I'll get one of those old gorilla phone stands and try to just upload straight away, raw style.

Are you sure? I'd have thought that there was no way Tarquin would be allowed out from their home schooling to bother the skate parks.

There should be some cracking edits in usually unskateable spots coming out once the dust is settled enough that people stop shopping each other to the police if they see someone outside.
Please ignore the above post, I have nothing of merit to say.

2021, you point out another positive.

Pushing back the Olympics saves skating for one more year before it officially becomes so mainstream even us on MAS won't want to be seen doing something so uncool.

Teachers drinking is just trying to recreate the school environment isn't it? We must all have had at least one teacher that had stronger coffee than the rest of the staff.
