Argh! Third broken deck this year. This one lasted about a month. So annoying. The Cab mechanical Dragon I had last year had lasted me about three years! It was just getting worn out. It's still the one I go back to whenever this happens. Doesn't anybody else make decks that last anymore?

Looking at where that has fractured, you've stomped
In front of the truck instead of landing on the bolts.
A maple deck will break under this use.

Yeah, thing is though, I've always skated like this. I have a popsicle that lasted me years, and my Cab lasted me years.

Maybe a little, but my sense is that they use the greater strength of the kevlar to make a thinner, lighter, poppier board, rather than a stronger board of the same weight.

I'd say the Dwindle Double Impact boards are the only boards by a major manufacturer that really go all out for break resistance. Lib-Tech are probably strongest overall if you can find them.

Realistically, you should just get another PP if the Cab worked for you.

Yeah the cab is just slightly too old school, bit of a boat, need something a little slimmer, but yeah wondering if that's why it was so much stronger.

Sean Goff swears by the P2 and reckons they are outlasting maple decks by 2x or more and he is a big lad who gives them some stick

Yeah I was thinking about getting the Lance Mountain P2 Vato Multi, but it's about 0.25 narrower than I like. I prefer 9.25 to 9.5. Might be worth a shot though.

Is it coincidence that the board has broken on a line right between the end of the rails and the truck baseplate? Wasn't there a thread about rails where someone suggested that the rails should be run beyond the line of the baseplate to avoid creating focus on an area which becomes the weakest spot? Or am I talking bollox ;-)

Yeah, they're all breaking at the same spot, somebody pointed out the rails thing when I broke the Elephant, so with the Grosso I pulled them back a bit, still broke at the same place. The Mountain I couldn't pull them back any further because of the wheel wells (they were overhanging the wells a bit as it was). I was considering trying no rails? But I do like them.

Sucked it up and ordered a Powell, the one that looks like a big fat 9.5" Popsicle but has the Cab Ban This logo on it. And if I put rails on it they'll be so far back they'll look like freaking exhaust pipes.

This one. I must admit, I'm not that excited about it, looks like a pretty boring shape, and I may have to drill the wheelbase a bit longer.But I just want something that will last.

Maybe break the board in for a while before putting on rails? Not saying it'll solve the problem since it seems you didn't snap them straight away, but it might help.
