Re: Peghill

Cookie: sorry to hear about the knee, looks like I'll have to do a daytime skate on my own this week ... how long do you think till you can venture back?

When will we learn: I took a bad slam yesterday from a rock to fakie due to not being warmed up properly.

Grafitti update: Tony - I checked out Peghill this morning (too wet to skate) and there is yet more decent quality sprayed graffiti!

not sure yet, at the moment it feels very similar to the last time I had a bad slam on it and needed an op. But the fact that I (stupidly) skated on it for another 90mins after the slam gives me hope that it may not be too bad, the next few days will tell I guess, if no improvement in a couple of days I will try and take advantage of my Bupa cover. These things are weird, sometimes an injury just takes ages to heal, other times it can feel real bad and a week later it is ok.

How you doing And - that's the longest I've seen you in one place post slam?

Cool - I'll check it out on the way to work next week.
Wet morning and my lad playing rugby early meant it was a dead cert fail for me.

Hankering for a day trip to an indoor bowl and ramps, good long session to make the mileage worth while, car full to share petrol. Give me an excuse to try out my new flask.

Dammit, wonder if my knee would survive if I strapped it up? probably be a bit stupid, but I'll see what the morning holds. If not I might just pop up with the camera or a flask or summat. What time you thinking Bob?

Didn't bother going down to Peghill today as it was still wet in Cheltenham, so i figured it'd probably be the same there.
Could do with an indoor park round here.

I had 2 hours there from 10 til 12, no problems at all, apart from the first half hour I was bloody cold, it was -5C when I arrived. The blow torch and the mop soon sorted any small ice patches. Props to the kids who turned up on their own to skate in very cold conditions.

This weekend is a no.... no. regardless of conditions - Centre Parcs here we come, bit of luck there maybe some swimming outside whilst it is snowing.

And - finally got the change to the collection, bag full of scaggy coins but they didn't complain. A bit of a boost from the penny piggy bank made it £4.

Skate report, sunday 12 dec a.m.

Inspected park at 8.40am and it's unskateable: the bottoms of the bowls are slippy due to a frozen damp layer.
Even when it thaws out, it'll be damp in the bowls.

Had a quick look at Peghill Sunday midday, half expected to see skate heads Andy and Cookie blasting away with a roofers torch. Mini half pipe area was still frozen in the shade as was most of the other shaded areas. Enough leaves in the green to make compost! Ripper still looking good, one has a top hat now!

Wifey looked to be slow on the uptake regarding the bones spf hint so I got them ordered at Rollermania.

Have to work today, so not about to skate.
Was free yesterday afternoon, went up to Peghill cleared piles of leaves out of the bowls, but it is really wet up there and it's difficult to see it being dry anytime soon ... a lot of water seems to be coming out of the ground, well it must be as we've had no rain for ages ... and it's all supposed to freeze, so I would say Peghill is and will be unskateable this weekend, though I will check on Friday.

tried to get with the program and had a quick look at Peghill Thursday morning - damp and horrible. :(
Got carried away and had a look at Filton - hmmmm. Andy, Cookie and Lecky would have skated it I thought so off I went to get the kit out the boot. Started to rain when I got back to the car and my resolve to do hard core skating dissolved. :(

1" of snow this morning - I bet Andy is at Peghill with a snow shovel and towels :) :D

Re: Peghill

If the snow was a bit deeper (maybe it will be tomorrow!) I'd have been up the skate park with the plastic sledge and the kids!

Re: Peghill

Just found out there was a meeting with the council this morning regarding the development of Peghill. I thought it had been shelved but apparently not. We need to get on top of any other meetings so we can have an input. I found out from one of the local yoofs.
Two fabs please Betty

Re: Peghill

A few weeks ago the main council man, Mark Williams, told me in person that there was going to be a meeting soon and that he would let me know ... evidently he didn't ... I found him to be a bit negative to be honest about most things to do with the skate park: he was pretty insistent that the red and white paint from a couple of months back were identical (and expensive) despite the facts in front of his eyes of the white paint being awlful ... litter bins HAVE to be a priority for next summer ... but they get vandalised and do you know how much they cost ... it was like talking to Eyeore!

Sure, I'm vexed!
