Re: Bristol Sk8er Thread

Great to catch up with you today Andy. Good session at Peghill and no ankle biters untill 9.

stoked
Nailed the axle stall :D

It wasn't elegant and at times not pretty. One forward slam and the other was the horrible 'axle stall to drop in, both feet sliding off the board - am I going to crack my nut on the coping' scenario.
More than three successfully dropped in....... ye-ha. :D :D :D

Now to tidy them up, get them regular and take it to some of the bigger transitions.

Oh! And maybe convert some to 50-50s in the mini.
w~ tonight.

Awesome - axle stalls are the biz! An essential manouver in a skater's arsenal!

Great session this morning - thanks Tony!

Well done Lecky, that camera gives bloody good results considering the tiny size of it. Funny though it feels like I'm skating at 100mph when I'm there but looks pedestrian on the vid lol. Thanks for doing the filming dude.

It was getting busy when we got there at 8am, but mostly little kids with their parents so they kept out of the bowl for quite a while.

Seems daft to say it but....... Weather looks good tomorrow.

Would be a shame not to have a trundle around Peghill :D

Should be there for 07:15 and swept up shortly after. Not a great fan of skating with ankle biters so probably gone by 09:00

Yep I had the whole park to myself for the entire session. All dry and clean. Would have been better with some company though. Up early again today, but too stiff from yesterday to go for another session. And DIY is calling.

Up early........ It's dry........ In pain :(

Practising axle stalls in the mini at Peghill I decided to test the rebound qualities of my chest against the coping

Reckon I bruised my ribs. The funny side is I suffer hay fever and am sneezing a lot :%

One of my mates was kind enough to point out that it's a lot of weight to put on ribs.......

Catch up soon.

Re: Bristol Sk8er Thread

Great vid from Churchdown Lecky, you blokes make it look small in that bowl but It looked massive when I went in there....darker darker darker and everything turned to concrete and I couldn't tell which way was down  :? It was a little damp though so didn't get enough speed up probably (read as chicken)!! Definitely on the list for a return trip (with pads this time).....

Sorry to hear about your ribs Woody, heal fast!! Couldn't find you on FB by the way, we are still down to MSN fairly regularly at the mo and had an excellent sesh at Keynsham last Sunday as we had it to ourselves for 3 hours in between light drizzle :D

I was up early this morning too, but too much to do to fit in skating, although if you read the injury section you can see I would have been safer skating.
Hopefully you've not cracked a rib Tony or you are in for a few weeks of pain, lots of it if you have hay fever and are sneezing.
Did you have the place to yourself?

Oh thanks LF...... :(

Cookie/Lecky - as frequent visitors to Churchdown, do you find it particularly slippy on the hips into the big bowl or was it just really dusty when we visited last week, as I was struggling to comit high into the bowl area?

Maybe a little slippy but not really a problem, try and just let it 'drift' a little over the hips

Cheers Cookie, was able to let the board drift okay but lost a lot of the pump I would normally get at places like MSN and Keynsham so could not get enough height in the bowl - maybe not a bad thing as I kept shitting myself kickturning in there :@~ Guess it will weather in over the winter

Wu-hey.... finally skated Churchdown.

Gets the thumbs up from me, a tidy little park with lots of lines to get into. Some of the drop ins are a little low to be vert - you have to slam the front down fast just to get it right in the height of the ramp.

Carving the big bowl is like being in a bl00dy cave

Deffo go there again and give it a little more time.

Post up on what you are doing Cookie.

It'll be Peghill if your having a skate, Churchdown if you are not. Weather looks better fo Churchdown.

Easy either way.

Decided on Churchdown - love Peghill but I don't have to spend 15mins sweeping up the sh1t first.

Sorry Cookie - edited my post early this morning but it doesn't update the time on the post. Would have been good to catch up.

Went to Churchdown early, managed two hours. Must be the first time ever I've managed a longer skate than your good self.

Couple of chaps there had met up with you and Lecky a couple of weeks ago sight seeing and now are kitted up and riding the bowls!! More converts curtesy of the Cookie enthusiasm.

Was hoping to get to vicky park this Wednesday, we'll see.
