Hate to say it but might not be able to make it this month :(
not ruling out 100% yet. J Roach and I had a good afternoon session there just after the last OMN, keeping my fingers crossed I can swing by.

ME! I'm in barring last minute family issues.
I rolled my ankle a few weeks ago after landing (ish) a heelflip with my front foot half on, half off the board and its still giving me hassle. But its only really flip flicks i cant do, transition seems to be ok as i've finally managed to nail frontside rocknrolls (mini quarters only) after trying and failing for about the last 100 years or so it seems.

drawnShort i dont think we met last time, itd be good to see your flip tricks as I'm struggling to learn them, could use some help. I'm doing it all for the first time so dont have any forgotten skills to tap into

You sure you went to the right night? :) Say hi anyway, I suck at working out who is who! Will be in a black Triple 8 helmet, lots of pads and skating a Grosso.

Think we need some facility to post a pic of ourselves on our profile other than the Avatar bit as I am shit at remembering names and everytime I go I meet someone new!!! If anyone sees me I will probably look like a refugee from the 70s in flared Levis and a hoodie or stupid flowery shirt, occassionally when I am scared you will recognise me by the bright red Norcon helmet and the Grosso Toy Box board and of course Blue Kryptonics - what else  :D :D :D

Ha, I best get them nailed before the next visit, strangely I seem to like a challenge. Hoping for backside slashers in the shallow end too, or maybe even frontside

Hey brim, no worries. I'm by no means consistent but happy to help our community wherever i can! I'll be local to the beginners section. No truly defining features to help identification, have a beard, some say i look a bit middle earth but that's probably of no help at all.

Looking forward to catching up tomorrow.

Middle Earth is quite inclusive, especially regarding beards. Will you be carrying a staff, axe, ring of power type thingy or some nice teacakes? Also, if you can teach me to do pop shove-its without killing myself I'll love you forever :P I actually find the beginners section the hardest bit of Bay to skate, especially for flatground with the slightly crappy and uneven crete.

Going with Paul's theory of sticking to stuff where your feet don't leave the board or change position too much and preferably you can put a hand down, inverts fit in that! Might go for frontside grinds in the bowl since seeing where I am makes me happy and my crappy frontside kicks should cope.

Yeah I enjoyed that session :) Good to meet DrawnShort/Greg down there, I sense some good sessions ahead mate ~.. Good to see Brim23/Brian & BBK/Jon again, and to say hello to Twist. Also chatted to a nice chap Danny who I've seen there before, and even Graham John Barker was in the house! I managed about 7-9 before my knee really started complaining.

I still feel a bit like a rabbit caught in headlights at bay 66, like there are so many different bits to it I don't really know what to session, so I just roll around and skate what is in front of me. Don't feel I have the place sorted yet at all. Oh and it was fun for my Third Foot Marmite board to meet another and they did a board cheers   8)

Cheers,
Ben.

Ps. I've realised that getting there/back is much easier when I ignore my cheapo satnav completely and stick to the a40.

Hey all, was a great evening. Lovely to meet you Ben, Brin and Busta, Mike, Jonny...to many names for my old mind to remember so excuse me if missed anyone! I'm way too excited about this skating second chance thing that's going on here, meeting such a great bunch, its ace. Proper ace.

Unfortunately achilles is a rather bunk today, may have to rest up a couple of weeks now as its probably best to give it a chance. Gonna be hard though as I've just impulsed bought a new 8.2 deck! Oops. Anyone got any a good achilles improvement plan?

Busta, when this achilles eases up I'll be sure to join you at Mile End :-) looking forward to that.

Cheers again all, already looking forward to the next meet.

Cheers
Greg

Drawnshort... Achilles stretched if it's just stained. Google lots but for me the calf stretch exercise works as my issue is tight calves and hamstrings. Stand on edge of kerb heels over the edge together, balls of toes in edge of jetty. Stand up on tip toes and as you lower on heel to the ground below kerb exhale and don't force it. Back up on tip toes then other heel down... Alternate..

Cheers Adrian, in will get to work on that. Real bummer as reading around seems it can take up to 6 months to clear up :-(

Tiger balm, ice and rest is on the menu as well....including the occasional bomb about as well just to keep it active :-)

Sorry about the achilles Greg, you were having a proper good session as well. I haven't had that particular problem so can't advise (it is usually knee or back problems for me). Hope it feels better soon.

Let's hope it's better thought out and placed than that abortion  they dumped in the middle of the run down to the beginners section
recently.

Made the mistake of dropping by a little after noon today, legs only wanted to work for 15 minutes.
I think I'll be doing a lot (even more than usual) sitting on arse at Pioneer tonight.

I wondered what the hell that was doing there! Maybe for bikes or scooters?

Good news on the mini-ramp though, that could be great, especially if not too big. Perhaps 4 ft high judging by the picture?

I think it went in same time as some comp/demo. While crap it does serve to stop people bombing down fro the main area to hit the vert wall in the beginners section, then again it creates a couple of lovely blind corners and fucks up that little section with the vert wall and mini quarter with pool coping since you never have any idea if somebody is about to skate straight into you.

Anybody know if they're using the whole beginner section for the mini? While I know people appreciate that quiet corner I'm hoping they use it all and have some extensions at different heights and tightness and don't just whack in another super whippy mini with bugger all flat, more than enough of those about.

More on the new miniramp.
It's going to run down the length of the back section of the park, next to the bowl.
It's going to be 4ft at one end and 5ft at the other.
There are going to be escalators between the two levels.
There might or might not be stuff going on at the ends where the ramp meets the wall.

C'mon, they look after us on old gits night but building escalators is taking the piss, it's only one foot. Next we'll have a chairlift up to the bowl.

Great to see it taking shape, good to know us Londoners will have at least one decent wooden mini to skate when it's wet.

Really looking forward to the mini ramp. The XC mini ramp is 4ft with a 5ft extension and is bang on and I do like the look of the bank with pool coping which I never knew was there. I'll definitely be heading to the Old Mans Nights when all up and running, anyone know when this will be?

They are. When I was there they were just beginning to shift those those transition sections around and connect them together. If you look at the sections closer to the wall, you'll see they've been pulled further apart. I think that's how they'll all end up

Now that is exciting. You'd think at 50 a ramp wouldn't excite me like a kid. Not that I can do much on any ramp over 3' cept pivot but will Def give it a go

Last Fri of this month is Halloween... Anyone know if that'll mean no old man's night and a kiddies theme horror skate instead?

Some more shots of the miniramp from lunchtime today
There's a high end and a low end.
There's a sort of flat-bank 'gap' in the high end
There's a wallride at the far end
