next tricks?!

Postby Sammy » Tue Aug 04, 2015 10:07 am

Alright all,

looking for a bit of inspiration - recently got axle stalls, tail stalls, 50-50s and rock to fakies and am getting better at linking them all up. Starting to get a few rock and rolls in there too. I know the answer to this question is really work on consistency or get them all frontside!

But what sort of tricks are a good little step up from here?? trying blunts felt sketchy as hell, 180s and disasters are a bit out of my league at the moment i think. Any pointers?!

Ta!

I've got a little video up on vimeo around that sort of level, I'd say make a start on frontside stuff though, definitely worth learning!

That's considerably more stylish than my flailed attempts! Looks a nice ramp though.

Agree, getting a bit more aerial - ollies, 180s are definitely on the list. that 3 is really smooth.

Fakie to rock, then fakie pop a rock
5-0 grinds
Front side Ollie airs
Backside early grabs (such fun!)
Board slides
Turn into axle stall on front truck (stepping stone to nose grinds, ally oop grinds, nose picks, etc)
Smith and feeble stalls, then grinds

"Turn into axle stall on front truck"

Ah, yes this would be a good one if it's what I'm thinking of. Do you end up turning frontside at the coping?

No, with the one I'm thinking of you end up in the normal backside axle stall position (facing into the ramp).
You just rotate through 90 degrees on the front truck rather than the back truck.
I'll see if I can dig out a video clip of one.

If you're linking up then presumably there's some extra speed available.
Beanplants are easy, once you're up and comfortable standing on the coping then have a look at sweepers too.

Back smith stalls are always satisfying (as long as you don't use your heel!)

I've been working on 5-0's forever, just can't seem to get any kind of consistency with them :(

I used to do smith grinds and 5-0s on freestanding waxed up kerbs back in the day, there such nice tricks once you can hold them and pull out clean 8). ive never done smithgrinds on ramp they look pretty hard, but I keep doing the odd 5-0 instead of bs50-50

Here you go. Its nothing really, but makes a change from normal axle stalls.
