Backside Airs on Vert

Postby mr_sooty » Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:18 am

Ever since I worked up the guts to drop in on Vert again about 4 years ago, I've been trying to figure out how to get the elusive backside air. I'm on an 11.7" vert ramp, with probably less than foot of vert, and quite a small coping, so bonking isn't really working. I'm basically doing edgers with a good grasp of the board with my hand. I feel like I've nearly got it, but if I do pop out the top, I hang up. I'm not sure how to get off the ramp. Any advice would be awesome.

Make them under the coping first, then on the coping, then out. Do a kickturn holding the board in front of your front heel, then another holding a bit longer than feels comfortable, then the next time do the tiniest hop on the way down. Work on if from there
