Multi storey car parks

In my national search for the perfect skatepark, I am beginning to realise that these places are full of pre-puberty bad ass gangster chavs on bmx's. Not really my ideal choice of company to hang out with.

So now I am looking at multi storey car parks instead. Shiny tarmac. Ramps. Kerbs. Great downhill runs. Lifts to take you back to the top floor. All weather. I presume these have been skated before and wondered if any are well known hotspots. Let me know. Most are empty in the evenings & night time. Quite fancy ripping up Heathrow T4 short stay myself !

Never done it myself but I have heard it said they are a good spot for longboards!!

Dodging the security is going to be your main headache though.
Is this where I am supposed to write something witty?

Frankiedoodle says there's a great one in central Manchester. No security either.

Funnily enough was talkin to Bingo about this last week and apparently the multi storey in Gateshead that featured in Get Carter was a popular spot at on time. He said there used to be a bank in there everyone would skate but the only drawback was the 40ft drop on the other side

You might want to give T4 or any of the Heathrow car parks a miss, armed police all over the place down there.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Imagine that. Security guards and armed police kind of add an edge to it as well. I'm sure you could get one decent run before being tackled to the ground. Probably just get let off with a slapped wrist after they realise you just want to skate . . .

Ah memories..... God knows how many times we got 'escorted' out of Gatwick Airport for Terrorist skating activities back in the eighties! South Terminal car park had these painted kerbs that went down the ramps. They must have been 50 feet + long, about 8" wide so you could slide or grind them and they slid so well but the Police didnt like it much! There was also some nice little banks dotted about as well as a few ledges that we used to frequent, and all under cover with a MCD's upstairs for lunch it was an ideal shit weather location.... except for the armed police!!

saas fee in switzerland has a perfect right hand spiral, 11 floors i think.

Re: Multi storey car parks

I was enquiring about the Market multi- in Preston in another thread in Skate Spots. From what I can find on t'interweb it seems that the loading bays get used on the ground floor, but I don't know if anyone skates the rest of the car park. guess I just need to go and recce the place in my motor. I'm looking for some places to criuse around on a board, short of trying out the prom at Lytham and Blackpool etc. Mind you. I'll just get sand in me bearings the n :(

NCP carpark, Rupert St, Bristol by Daniel Durrans, on Flickr

This is Rupert St NCP car park in the centre of Bristol - has a really cool spiral effect inside where instead of the floors having ramps to take you up one level at a time, the whole car park is one long spiral. Not skated it personally but have heard it's worth a visit.
Mongo and proud!

Keep calm...and carry on skating

Re: Multi storey car parks

Back in the day ( god i sound old lol ) we used to skate on the top floor of tower block ( flats ) car parks, from memory it was 2 floors connected by a ramp but as it was up the top there was no access for cars, drove past the one we used to skate and it is still there but loads of no skateboarding signs up.you can still see the ramp between the 2 floors.

Image

the ramp to get up to the level was at the bottom of my red circle .

Re: Multi storey car parks

The last time when I went to a shopping center I park my car on the second floor because there were a big car parking place and also big crowed that's why they build a double storey parking place. It's a very big shopping center everything available there. I shocked to see a big parking place containing two floors.I never see such a big parking place in a shopping center.
