Current set up, vision 30x9.75 shallow concave, indy 169s stage 5, alva wheels 60mm 95a, minii logo bearings, , just changed from 1/2 to 1/4 indy risers, and it does feel more stable, wheel clearance is 37mm at rear, 40mm up front, is this height ok, I now have fairly loose trucks for me, used to have em rock solid, but i have come round to loose trucks, and you really do need em loose, , not had any wheel bite yet
Plus the trucks are well ground, and kingpin is level with grind area, and has hooked me up a few times, got grind king, ,kingpins in my head , i think they will give me that clearance I need, where can I get em from, and will they fit my stage 5s,
Any advise , ,appreiciated, cheers

Gring kings should be a doddle to fit as stage 5s have the old style king pin not the button head ones.

Getting hold of some may be difficult though as they've not made them for years

Just had a Google and apparently they are available and even come with inserts for modern trucks.
Should set you back about £9
They don't look as rounded as the old ones tjougj

I guess wheel clearance is understood as distance wheel - deck.

For stage 11 Indy recommends largest wheel size 56 mm.

Riser 1/8 is 3 mm, thus allowing for 6 mm larger wheels than without the riser - implying 62 mm wheel.
Riser 1/4 is 6 mm, thus allowing for 12 mm larger wheels than without riser - implying 68 mm wheel.

I like being riser-less - i.e. I use 56 mm.

Stage 11 is 55 mm tall. Stage 5 is 54.5 mm tall. This will imply

Stage 5, max wheels sixe
No riser 55 mm
1/8 riser 61 mm
1/4 riser 67 mm.
1/2 riser 79 mm.

I think.

I've read the bit about 56mm wheels on Indys stage 11 FAQ. Unfortunately it all becomes bollocks when you think that this statement doesn't mention truck width. A 169 will contact the deck long before a 139 for the same amount of turning. Also doesn't take concave or wheel width in to account so is basically just marketing bullshit from Indy.
I know this doesn't help but just wanted to make you aware of it.

just leave the risers at 1/4" and not worry about wheel clearance then?

Just curious, but is the difference in wheel clearance between front and rear due to:
Wheels more worn at front.
More concave above wheels at front.
Bushings squashed down more at rear.
or something else?

Hi ya, just down to a mellow concave , only 3 mm difference between front /rear
Bushing are supercush hards barrel on bottom , hardcore on top ,and they are fine, virtually new, almost got it set up perfectly, few more little tweeks, to tightness, wheels are not worn, well pissed I put a small flat spot on one

This makes sence. I use no risers with 56 mm wheels. Sometimes I do get a wheel-bite, but then things are already going bad.

For 60 mm and almost certain avoidance of wheel-bite a 1/4 riser would be right choice. As Mr J points out.
