I've just bought an 8.5" board and I've been looking at Thunder trucks, but I'm unsure whether I'd need 149 or 151s, I like to be able to look down and see the axle nuts slightly protruding.

I've been considering Indys too, but I've read different things online, some people saying 159s are better suited on an 8.5" as it gives you more grinding surface.

Also, what other brands would be a good alternative to Thunder or Indys, are Theeve CSX V3s any good?

It will be used as an all round setup for both street and transition.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I will throw Mini Logo 8.38s into the mix, medium height so good for street and parks, really turn well, especially if you go for some bones bushings although I find the stock ones just fine. They are pretty light and at £30 a pop from Woodys shop they are very competitively priced

159 for an 8.5 might be ok on a personal opinion basis, not general guideline. If you are an all round skater, no matter the level, 159 on a 8.5 are probably too wide... You might try them and find them to be perfect, but it'll be very, very unusual...

Thanks guys, I had seen those mini logos but wasn't sure what they'd be like.

Out of Thunder and Indys which ones would you say are better, and is the 151 Thunders the right size for an 8.5?

Also any info on Theeve V3s would be much appreciated too, thanks in advance.

Definitely 159s for an 8.5" deck. Here's how mine line up.

I'd use 149 on a 8.5... I don't see how adding 2mm is going to harm... 149 indy or 151 thunder seems both reasonable IMO...
