Refinishing deck - wood dye

Postby Bogey » Tue May 12, 2015 11:25 am

Was going to refinish my currently stained welcome deck. I'm going to re stain it s different colour. I've seen the liberon 15ml bottles, anyone used this or is there a better alternative?
I've also lengthened Wb what's best to fill old holes?

Tricky job, your have to clean off all the old lacquer first to enable the wood dye to bite into the timber, use wood and glue to fill the holes this would give you an okay result and the cheapest way. good luck....

I was planning on sanding it back to bare wood as I'm changing the colour too. I guess this would be the best way???

Yeah could sand it, but not to hard use fine sandpapers once your though the lacquer. a paint stripper and course wire wool might take out the old colour better from the wood and grain as the paint stripper contains bleach.

Don't bother? I usually whack some new grip on the top and a couple of stickers over them on the bottom.

you could fill the holes with epoxy. had it on one board and worked well.
