Truck recommendations?

Postby giantsteps » Sat Apr 09, 2016 4:21 am

Hey folks. Bought my first new deck in 20 years. Been riding my daughter's popsicle when I could steal away with it and decided that it was time for the old man to get his own ride. I picked up a 9.5" Street Plant Mammoth (I like big boards and I cannot lie...plus my kid REALLY liked the elephant graphic) and had a question about truck width. The width over the nose truck mounting holes is about 9.5...over the tail about 8.75. Do you guys have recommendations for a seat of trucks that would work with perhaps a set of 58mm mini logo A cuts? Thank you so much. Will post a pic of the board when it's complete in the "next ride" thread...

Best,

Chris

Welcome to MAS!

Tricky one - you're either going to overhang the rear, or underhang the front, or both!

I'd probably match to the rear and go for either Indy 159 or Theeve CSX 6.5, or maybe go a tad wider and get Indy 169's.

Had some mini logo wheels and wasn't that keen on them. If you can stretch to it spitfire F4's are much better.

I'll second that. I thought skating was a lot thicker than it needed to be until I got some F4s ..-

I always was a F4 lover but last week I tested some Bones stf's from Buddy.
And to be fair they are in my Opinion a little better then the F4.
I think you must compare Bones stf/spf with the F4 and not the Mini logos.

I would go with a set of 169's just because that's all I've ever skated with non-popsicle boards. Old school. A set of Slimeballs or Bullets would go nicely with that set up.
Skating since you were swimming in your Dad's nutsack.

I'm really stoked on the Gullwing III reissues on my shaped decks. They are worth taking a look at if a shop near you has them.

Big Woody, swears by Tracker Trucks, but to be fair he does swear a lot though, why not ask him about them, I'm sure he would be more than happy to help!

Any idea what truck would best fit a Cliche 8.34 deck?? Seems one of the most awkward sizes going!

i currently skate Royal 5.25 so was thinking the Royal 5.5's
