How are they going to deal with bolt and nut alignment? Slots in screw heads are never perfectly aligned.

Might be handy for skateshops setting up completes near Christmas but has limited appeal to me.
I quite enjoy the ritual of gripping and setting up a new deck.

I'm the opposite. If I try and grip a board it ends up all jagged with bits ripped off and curled over the edges (so it basically saws through my shin).
As for nuts and bolts falling everywhere - drives me mental!

It's your technique that is at fault. When you have stuck the grip down use a file and run around the edge of the deck to remove any excess grip tape and give a clean edge/finish or use the grip tape you cut off the sand around the edge.
Look on YouTube for examples there will be plenty.

A file? I was getting ready to have my knife sharpened

I second the file method. If there's no file to hand a new Stanley knife blade does the job but it can peel after a bit.
With a file the heat created melts the edges to the board.

This gadget seems like a problem in search of another problem.

I shall steal that and cut and paste it onto 99% of kickstarter campaigns!

Another +1 for the file method, it was a road to Damascus type moment when I first saw it.
It makes a hell of a mess though!

Tool looks like a fine way to get your grip all twisted.
I'm oot!
