Home-made sliding gloves

I've just made my own sliding gloves. They look great but having a little trouble making the velcro stick to the glove. I reckon it will hold for a few sessions but does seem easy to peel. Anyone got any ideas for a good adhesive?
The gloves have rubber bits which have very small squares which might be why it's not sticking great. Using a glue gun at the moment.

cheers

Re: Home-made sliding gloves

Have you tried sewing the velco to the glove? Might need some heavy duty needle depending on what glove you're using

Re: Home-made sliding gloves

Thought about it but being useless at sewing, I would probably sew the fingers together. Using padded handyman gloves. See if the Mrs will do it in exchange for some chocolate mwahahahaha.

Re: Home-made sliding gloves

The way I did mine was to use some leather gardening gloves and cut out the pucks from a I'm a spammy wanker chopping board. Heated one side of the pucks using a blow torch until they started to melt and then quickly applied the glove to it. No way are those pucks ever coming off.

Might try that, I was trying to be clever using velcro. I'll get the blow torch out.

This is the approach I took. Put a screw in one side of the block, so you can hold it easily with pliers while you heat it up over a camping stove or something.

Then when it's good and gooey, press it down hard on the glove. Mine stayed on until the puck had worn right down.

Hey, don't give up yet on Velcro.

Use some soft plastics glue from your favourite DIY store and glue the Velcro to the gloves. Works a treat for me.

which glue though. I think it also depends on the surface of the glove as well I guess.

Re: Home-made sliding gloves

I used B&Q mechanics gloves, they have somewhat of a thin rubbery padding on the palms. Dunno the name of the glue but it was specific for the use on soft plastics, was about £2.50 in my local hardware store. I think I still roughed up the surface of the gloves with grip/sandpaper.

Hope that helps

velcro is a great idea Think I'll try it. an epoxy glue would proberbly work best i think. makes replacing the pads a hell of lot easier.

Re: Home-made sliding gloves

I sanded down the textured rubber and used some serious glue. They look and work great. Really easy to replace the pucks.
