Which Longboard?

Hi all, this has been asked before I'm sure but would welcome your input.

This is what I'm after:

Classic 42" plus pintail longboard
Secondhand is fine, and maybe better given my budget
Good basic cruising board that's good enough to be uprated later
Budget circa £100

Am looking at Lush, D Street and Sector 9 mostly, but any other makes to consider and any pitfalls to avoid please?

If you want a bit of a DIY project, you could pick up a Still Stoked Travel Board deck (less than £30 posted).
They are unfinished, so need staining and varnishing or painting, and griptape too.
Then throw on some Paris or Holey trucks, and some nice big (70mm-75mm) 78a wheels - Kryptonics re-issues for maximum nostalgia.
The deck is 44", made from 15mm birch ply, and completely flat. It has a bit of spring about it too, which makes for a nice ride.

There are so many other options out there - just keep a good lookout

Nice looking board and if I really get back in to it then yes, I'd like to build my own. For the moment though it'll be secondhand and complete I think. I've narrowed it down to two makes I think........

What would you buy, Lush or Sector 9?

I'd try and keep it local, and buy Lush, but it really would depend on the shape and trucks wheels etc...

Done! Lush classic 46" pintail, Randall trucks, Avalon wheels and Bones Red bearings. Not flashy, just long and mellow. Can't wait.... It's the first board I've bought in 35 years!!

That sounds like a right beast at 46"

Sounds good - should be decent wood, and a proper brand of trucks and wheels too. Photos when you get it please

if you're on low budget: think i've seen something like the template for the gravity carve modell, which had no concave and kicks if i remeber right. so you could easily buildt one out of a sheet 12mm birch plywood. (or laminating 4mm birch, 4mm poplar center , 4mm birch plywood - thats the slighter expensive "lightweight" version, you could even add concave then by using a supersimple press)

edit: just seen i've been a bit late to the party. wish you and youre kids tons of fun with that giant board!
