Taken the Leap

Postby Daverage » Wed Apr 27, 2016 2:01 pm

Well, today is my 38th birthday and am the proud owner of my first skateboard since I was about 14.

The 40" Apollo Bamboo Flex 1 Twin Tip Drop Through!

Seems to be good and sturdy, possibly went overboard on the flex rating - not as heavy as I thought, but looks the part. Will get a chance to ride it properly later. Got some Bones Reds to stick in the wheels later as well.

Wish me luck!

Rides beautifully with stock set up, just done the school run!

Can't wait to put the new bearings in and give it a whirl :D

Expectedly stiff ride, but that will loosen up a bit - at 100kg I didn't want to risk flex 2 lol

For 70 quid, I am very impressed! Put some Bones Reds in and put the stock bearings into my daughters £15 skateboard - stock bearings are actually pretty good ABEC 7 with rubber seal, proper cage and lubricated.

Just need to get some confidence up on it now :)

Nice one looks good that, yeah I've found abec 7s pretty good tbh, start small and then when your used to it learn to stop, they pick up speed quickly

Looks good - have fun! ^ what he said. Even a gentle slope is going to get you up to speeds that you can't run out of so get comfortable with your footbraking/slides first (I learned the painful way )

Just down the road from me.
I take it you mean the old kart track and not the banks although I have skated that.

Hehe, indeed I do! My 9 year old daughter has been trying out the ramps - got me on her skateboard to have a go at one - only one hand touched the floor which is a win in my book. The kart track is great for for skating on! ~..
