Aging noob needs advice!

Hey folks!!

39 yrs young longboarder looking to get into bowls!!
(Big up to Rob from Deal met today for not making me feel like a coplete arse!! CHEERS BUD!)
Been longboarding again for a few years but looking for a pool board to add to my quiver!
WHICH ONE THOUGH!!

Love my Loaded Vanguard.... awesome pumping and carving machine but not suited for a bowl/pool....
so am toying with the loaded fish (33.5 inch board 25inch wheelbase).... or the lush globe 41 (41inch board 22inch wheelbase) tried a 30 inch pig today that Ive had for eons but felt too short and really unstable so want something longer but obviously not too long!

Ideas on a postcard please or better still on here!!!

Cheers

JP

I have the Lush Globe 41 and the Globe 33 they are both nice boards, you might want to look at the 36" Globe Slide board too.
The 41 seems to be a great all round board, I bomb hills and ride parks on it.
Its a big skateboard.

heres Kurt Nischel who rides for lush on the 36" globe slide

I mostly ride longboards and had the same problem. I've finally settled on an Earthwing Drifter 34.52 x 9.252 wb 17"

it's got a really deep concave and steep kick which i like

he does a few that might interest you wwwearthwingskateboards.com

Same story here. I'd been using a Vanguard for general carving & commuting but wanted to try parks, bowls etc though didn't feel comfortable with a short stance.
Got the Earthwing Bigfoot Drifter just over a month back. Had to switch from Gravity 66mm wheels down to Powell 60mm as they kept biting but after that have been really happy with the board and my progress.
And sliding is so much easier than with a long board, which is unfortunate as I can't resist doing it then having sore knees for days afterwards.

Hi John, I'm the lanky git who wasnae feeling very well....ended up with full on man flu all week, nice to meet you, I'll be over on Sunday morning early with Rob if you want to have a go on my boards, bit longer wheelbase than you had...worth a go, see if you like, I was actually thinking I should get some shorter stuff as these can be a wee bit hard to get your carve on with, but they do feel comfortable when you "get" it, if you know what I mean.

See ya Sunday

i'm in the same boat ,i like longboards but also like riding bowls. i cant seem to get on with popsicle size decks. i'm currently best suited to my sector 9 bingin deck , paris 180's , abec 11 no skoolz 60 mm 92a. i was a bit worried about harder wheels sliding out . i've got so used to softer wheels but they are fine.getting more confident each time i go out on it. ~..

Cheers Dodo,

would certainly love a crack on your decks see some difference!!

Ive got a 36 inch Globe slide coming on Tuesday so hopefully that will solve my probs... had a few slips and grips today in there as the wheels on my pig are a little too big and grippy!!
Its fine until one end slides and the other bites!!
No progression in the slide on it!
But still.... felt like I was getting there...
Spoke to Rob on the phone last night so will deffo be seeing you there on sunday!!

Hey Blind JP Don't get hung up about the size of your board, the vangaurd will do fine...check out louis pilloni if you get the chance...just be prepared to work a little harder....
For me bowls/parks and pools are just the place to be carving happy....tricks, coping etc don't even enter my thought pattern..i'm just out to chill skate and carve curves...not collect brownie points...
ridden longboards from 40 to 46 inches in bowls, Dervish wins for me..
TURN ON AND DROP IN!!!

Well....... what can I say.....
Many thanks for all the advice.....
It was all so good I finally decided on a board....

I have a lush globe slide, 36 x 9, original set up sucked so I now have 9 inch trackers rahter than the stock 8s with soft bushings and blood spot wheels.... really nice!

and.....

a Karma 33x10 with 8.5 trackers and 90a tunnel rocks..... proper old skool looks and a silent ride in a bowl! (EVERYONE LOVES IT)

and.....

a Death Zarosh pool board, 32.75x9 with 9 inch trackers and lush cannonball slide wheels, odd board shape and size but hell I like it!

and......

faltown 3:1 34 x 9.5 with grind king thunderbirds and 62mm spf wheels
(my fave board!!) GORGEOUS!!

and......

Im reconditioning my old early 80s, Alva pig with trackers and santa cruz bullets.... doubt I will use it but hell it looks good on the wall!! LOL

so thanks for all the advice.....

its nice to settle on a board finally!!
