New board just arrived

Postby drummist » Mon Oct 04, 2010 11:49 am

After a 30 year break from skating, my new set up just arrived this morning, Can't wait for this shite weather to clear so I can get out and practice falling over.

I had to go for the full nostalgia set up as far as possible:
G&S Warptail 2
Tracker Fulltracks
62mm Kryptos (not quite70s red Kryps but close enough to get me feeling like I'm 14 again)

Sadly, I've not even ridden it yet and I'm already planning my second board. All this reissue and NOS gear has me drooling.

Cheers

....very cool, looks like a lot of fun mate, enjoy. It wont be the last board you buy so relax back into it and write a nice long letter to Santa

That will be such a great deck for cruising about on. Even if you do park skate and move onto something more modern that will deck will always be a great rider and a lot of fun.

I have two things to say.

1) Nice board, very nice indeed.

2) I am most disapointed with lack of anything to take the piss out of in the photos. Go away and take them again with a better background!

You could have attacked the beigeness of the carpet, or that fact that someone appears to have stolen all of the furniture, or his dedication to selling all his furniture to fund his skating 'habit'. Honestly, the standards around here are slipping.......

I think he has used the offcuts of the carpet as a door mat too which is a bit pikey but I didnt want to comment

Busted!!

There I was thinking I'd eliminated any newbie hazards and then I go and make not one but two fundamental schoolboy errors. Must have been the smell of grip tape and fresh urethane clouding my thoughts.

Did you buy that lot from eBay user "confict skate" by any chance?

Is the tailsave supposed to be colour co-ordinated with the carpet?

Sweet ride, the Warptail 2 is one of my all time favourite decks, especially with that sqaure kicktail....off to eBay now!!

Yup, got it all from Conflict Skates. Ordered it Thursday, it arrived this morning. Found them good to deal with.

Don't you start about the bloody carpet :) I'll probably change the tailsaver to something less blue and loud, although the great big pinky-orange Kryps don't exactly have understated looks do they?

In for a penny...My next board will definitely have some very loud lime green wheels, that much is certain!

1.) Cheers, I'm really pleased with it. Just waiting for my lad to get home so I've got some cover to go the local park where they've got a small skatepark for my first ride.

2.) If you guess correctly the mystery object, I'll buy you a beer. Knock yourself out.

Shoe rack.

If you are looking for lime green wheels then get some Abec 11 No Skools. Look like Green Kryps but centre set. Available in loads of duros.

We have a winner. It is indeed an Ikea chair. One beer awarded to James. Feel free to collect it when you're next in the area James. I'll make sure there's a cold one in the fridge. If I was still living in Wilmington I'd have dropped it round.

Wooohoooo what a good guess. Not got one but looks just like one a mate used to have 15 years ago.

If you're going to Dartford skatepark give us a shout as it's only just down the road. A few of us often get together on a sunday morning.

Like the deck as well. I've still got my old one

Lovin that original Warptail James.

I may well take you up on the Dartford Sunday morning skate in a week or two. Had my first proper ride on a board since the early 80s this evening. Loved every minute of it! A couple more local rides using my 5 year old son as a decoy and I'll be in control of the board enough to venture out with the bigger boys. (I hope!!)

Thanks for all the support (and piss taking of course.) I think this is going to be fun!!

For your information....

The Byelaws that apply at Dartford Skatepark don't allow the use of single kicktail decks or wheel sizes greater than 56mm I'm afraid, wheels also have to be centre-set. No wide wheels.

Sorry.

Its the rules.

No mongo's either.

Or pushing in the bowl.

The Supreme One's decision is final and correspondence will not be entered into.

PS. No Scootars either.

Thats going to be a very sweet ride around, always worth having a nostalgic set up for a blast round on.. 8)

Now down to taking the piss......
Actually it looks like a newish carpet as the tops of the tufts are hardly worn at all, & you've obviously had a bit of offcut made into a Mat..... but the state of that carpet whipping is outragous, its the worst whipping Ive seen in a long time. very untidy
