Hebden Bridge new concrete

Shmoove as a babies 8) mad, almost vert 4ft (?) shallow end(s) 8ft ? almost vert deep end.
chunky coping that is neither under or over protruding ... You can feel when your on it :D

The "bank" in the shallow end between the two small bowls is kinda quirky :?

Very quick bowl that you really have to work at .... me likes 8)

ill bung some video up later

lens is distorting but you get the general idea.....

And already the "lets all sit here" spot, turns out to be the stupidest possible place.

Board to face recommended.

Is there a waterfall into the deep? That looks great fun. Shame its in Antartica though, reminds me of Shoreham. 8)

Hebden Bridge had a reputation for being full of Lesbians and hippies in the 90's but dont get excited from what i recall they weren't of the lipstick variety.

Mind you I have never heard of Lipstick hippies anyway :?

Re: Hebden Bridge new concrete

Went there today, the steel coping on the bowl has now been notched to give it a coping block effect...it's quit subtle though.
And I may have imagined it but it seems like the coping has been buffed to make it more slidey?
Now the surface has been power washed it seems even smoother, hopefully it will be sealed shortly.
The surface. coping and transitions on the rest of the park all seem uniform and consistent and again very smooth.

Re: Hebden Bridge new concrete

looks like the local idiots had a fire last night....

Image

Also the park was full of broken glass and cans and other general rubbish...shame.

There was also a young kid on a BMX who had faceplanted the large extension on the halfpipe and smashed his mouth in and split his lip - blood was pouring everywhere.
A bloke took him off to find help and eventually an ambulance was called.
He wasn't wearing a helmet or pads.
This is the third day in a row that there has been an ambulance called to the park...
:(

The ramps and bowl have now got some lovely skate stickers decorating them along with traces of claret on nearly ever ramp.....!

Par for the course for a new build park really. Seen it nearly every time. With luck (usually) the local chavs/troublemakers will get bored and move on to somewhere else and local kids will get the hang of it or others will start encouraging them to protect themselves or be more careful. It generally works itself out after a while.
Reports from Andy sound amazing and I respect his judgement. Another one on my list of "parks I really want to skate but will probably just keep talking about it."

Re: Hebden Bridge new concrete

fingers crossed that this will be the case, just hope the don't damage the park in the meantime.
The local skating kids seem a good bunch and hopefully they will police it themselves.

We also tried to explain to the kids (without sounding like boring old farts) that if one of their mates ended up having a similar accident then they should ring 999 straight away and get help.
This poor kid was lying on the ground for at least 5 mins before we showed up and the other kids on the park didn't know what to do.

All this aside, you must check it out sometime...also it is located in a truly beautiful part of the country.
