Desert Island Discs

What's your favourite eight records?

The BBC ran a poll and 25,000 people made about 250,000 suggestions and the most popular records look like this -
very middle-aged, middle-class, very Radio 4.

1 Vaughan Williams - The Lark Ascending
2 Elgar - Enigma Variations
3 Beethoven - Symphony No 9 in D minor Choral
4 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
5 Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
6 Elgar - Cello Concerto in E minor
7 Handel - The Messiah
8 Holst - The Planets

I wonder how many votes went to Blitzkrieg Bop or Metal Machine Music. ?? or Vicky Leandros. :?

B-52's - Good Stuff
Sugar - Beaster
Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder
Rush - Exit Stage Left
The Gladiators - Trenchtown Mix-Up
Burning Spear - Live at the Hammersmith Odeon.
Martha and the Muffins - This Is The Ice Age
Ella Fitzgerald - Gold

I'll change my mind in ten minutes............
Chris K - a man basking in his own awesomeness but considering basking in his own epicness and now literally a legend.

Re: Desert Island Discs

But which Gilbert O'Sullivan?

No you're right, it's a silly idea.

The Lark Ascending, Enigma Variations and Bohemian Rhapsody - the nation has spoken.

If you name it, you limit it. If you limit it, you lose it.

I cant believe what \I just wrote. If I was really stuckona desert island I wouldnt want any of that sentimental crap. I would want Break on through and Five to One by the Doors to remind me of being back in Nam. White Rabbit by Jeff Airplane.
