Re: cover me i'm going in

Time to stick my head above the parapet...

on the whole scooter riders are blinkered no talent school kids.
but recently i have been genuinely impressed with some of the more advanced riders out there..
I think it is a "Sport" that is here to stay.
easy to pick up (and annoy people with) and a gateway to skateboarding and BMX..
I have heard rumors that my local is going to be Improved because of the Heavy use it is getting on a daily basis (mainly scooters)
and i am sure this is not the only one in the country that is benefiting from the extra use :S
it is Cool that Some parks are Segregating the sessions as it is alot like playing Hockey through a football match ..
that one session must have paid for Rampworx's running costs for a few months at least £7-10 a head there was a lot of kids there...
Just a thought i am going to hide now... ..-

Re: cover me i'm going in

A daisy cutter should do the job. Vermin of the park, just like the bin liners were a few years ago. Just pump hard and barge, they'll only get in your way once. lets not fall into the trap of accepting them as they fund our parks. I'd rather have less parks and no scooters/bladers than lots of parks full of the little shits. Oh and you can count bloody long boards in with that too. And don't even get me started on ridiculous things like dirt and caster boards :@~

What's wrong with longboards Conan?

Maybe you should post a list of skateboard shapes that are acceptable to you.

Re: cover me i'm going in

I was thinking of a longboard with off-road wheels (like Road Stomper wheels http://www.nhsfunfactory.com/video/1091 ... per-Treads, not those monstrosities with pram wheels and sky-hooks...). Wanted to skate a cemetery, you see... 8)

Re: cover me i'm going in

The reason I asked is because to me it's all just skateboarding.

I ride a popsicle, a longer more dedicated downhill/freeride board and a slalom board.

I go skateboarding.

Re: cover me i'm going in

Right my issues are in relation to the current fashion craze for long boards and the idiots that go along with it. They can be seen in there droves when the weather is nice carrying there boards more than riding them because the board is merely a fashion accessory, and when they do eventually attempt to skate it they're just as dangerous and clueless as any scooter or bin liner out there, if not more so. I'm sure a few of you on here actually use there long boards to bomb hills and thats ok with me, it's a far cry from the majority of idiots who now own these things. Though I've always been far more impressed by stuff like Gerwers switch SF hill bomb and other SF street hill antics than people in leathers and bike helmets on long boards.

What it comes down to though is the powers that be like some of you here will see it as well it's all skateboarding so those of us who have a clue will be punished for the actions of those that don't. Street skating is becoming difficult enough these days, these idiots will only make it worse. So when I say I've an issue with longboards, try to see the bigger picure. I take this as far as not supporting shops that sell blades, scooters or long boards.

Re: cover me i'm going in

Right, well, I'm the first person to have a whinge when my local is full of scooters. But it is a valid point that there are parks that may well have closed if the whole scooter thing hadn't taken off like it has.

At least it gets the sprogs out and about rather than sat at home on bloody Facebook. Plus, as already mentioned, quite a few scooter kids do go onto skating & BMX.

The really concerning thing for me is, 20/30 years from now, will there be whole new generation of middle aged scooter shredders? Somehow I really don't think that will be a good look at all :/

The same can be said for the kids, and adults seen carrying their street deck, then trying to ollie down a stair set on a Saturday afternoon in a town centre.

Re: cover me i'm going in

Can't say I see too many true street skaters trying to skate spots in a town cente on a saturday afternoon. People who have a board as a fashion accessory maybe. I hold the same level of contempt for them too. Especially those that commit the crime of the mall grab :@~

Re: cover me i'm going in

i wish to bring to a halt the hating of trendy longboards, this thread was created to bring us all together in the hatred which is the scooter menace. if you want to hate longboards then start your own thread. anymore mentioning of longboards will be met with a firm but fair "fuck off this is my thread"

Sorry to be unfashionable trying to be fashionable on a longboard, but if I kick turn with my 40 incher in the bowl I can knock about 4 scooterers over. :D
