Grip tape cleaners

Naus's thread reminded me of something i've seen advertised for cleaning grip tape,



Do these things work or am i buying into the gimmick thing again?

I have found a stiff brush or a nail brush will work just as well, It seems lots of parks are in places where you have to walk over muddy grass to get to now and have hit the same problem and used a brush and some water to clean mine up.

I don't fancy using that Eraser thing for Naus' problem!!

Soap, water a vigorous brushing and possibly a splash of bleach where dog shit is involved!

Yeah just soap, water and a brush do the job.

Modern glues are waterproof so don't worry about your deck delamming

Just use the brush from the dustpan for dusty grip & a cheap set of wire brushes from the £1 shop for mud & stubborn stuff

Yes they work. Don't know what they are asking for the one you showed but its just a belt sander cleaner and probably available from a decent tool shop for not a lot of money. Certainly gets the dust and general filth off the grip tape.

Doesn't work with Dog Shit though and that's another MAS story all together.

I made the mistake of using a carb cleaner on my fluro grip after taking it to a muddy park. Unfortunalty carb cleaners remove varnish and gummy deposits which resulted in taking most of the grip off along with the nice varnish on the top of the deck too!

I would say that if the dog shit has dries out properly the donkey dick (belt sander cleaner) should work fine. Screwfix do them I think, must be a fraction of the cost of the 'skate' branded one.

I got mine from Screwfix and to be honest I was not impressed with it's cleaning capabilities.

However it is a lot cheaper and about 5 times the size of "Skatebranded" ones.

Nail brush, not too much water, then dab with I'm a spammy wanker roll. Gospel.
