Sliptape

Has anyone tried sliptape? Sliptape is a clear sheet applied to the entire bottom of the deck to protect the board and create a slicker surface to slide on when doing boardslides, noseslides and tailslides. I've tried it & I liked it a lot! Sliptape actually works really well & did not peel off at all. I will definitely use it again.

I used to have an everslick deck, can't remember who made it. It had a extra laminate of thin plastic all over the bottom of the deck with the graphics printed into it.

I always used to have rails back in the days. I think sliptape is a lot better though.

Did the everslick laminate last?

I had a few everslicks when they were all the rage and they lasted pretty much the life of the deck.
Not sure why they died out? I'm guessing when street skating started getting super tech and people wanted lighter boards?

Yes I thought I remembered the everslicks weren't so great in the end - a nice idea but they were heavy and felt a bit lifeless/lacking pop.

Extra cost, that's why they died out. I only had one, a New Deal. Didn't feel any heavier or lacking of pop. Didn't delaminate either. But some company were worst than others. TV and Milk, so I'm told, they were, apparently, the worst...

Sliptape adds about the same weight as griptape. In addition it stiffens the board and keeps the deck crispy. Of course the tape has to be put on without bubbles. If put on with bubbles -the tape is not working. Sliptape is not easy to put on. I managed to put it on without a single bubble though.

I had an Alien Workshop slick in about '95. I don't remember thinking it was particularly heavier when I got it, but I do remember thinking the Element board I got after it was lighter and had more pop.

The trend of every fucking board company under the sun making only slick bottom died out... SC were the first that did it and obviously they can afford to still run some for the sake of it... Btw, those SC runs are about three years old now and still available... Hardly flying of the shelves...

And yes they have died out , as in the 90s there's be racks of them
. Actually the only decks you'd see at one stage non slick where blanks , and even at the time you could get blank slicks

Thus compared to one on a eBay search out of 2.5k decks defends the status as dried up

my Pool King has a kind of slick fibre weave coating on the top and bottom
