I have recently fitted Bronson G3's and they sound rough already, not happy for £30 I'd expected a bit more, can I pop the sheids off these and clean and lube them.

I hate to ask, but have you skated in the wet?

No haven't skated in the wet, well not raining but gone though a very shallow puddle but that only wet the rolling surface of the wheel it was nothing really

I reckon it's possible to just get a duff set of bearings sometimes.
I have 2 sets of mini logo's (am on a permanently tight budget ) on 2 set ups ... both about the same age and skated about equal amounts, ie. not very much ... one set is fine, as new, the others are total shite already

Have ridden my Bronsons for a few months, straight away all wheel's fast & whizzy, may be slightly more noise than some, just recently I noticed that the two rear wheels had stopped spinning freely, had a check & both the inner bearings were sluggish but other two were fine, thinking the whacking against coping might not have helped, so just put a couple of drops of lube in each bearing, moved the wheels from back to front, after a few runs the Bronsons are back to being fine again.

Have you been running them the right way round with with the black seal stripe to the outside, using the supplied spacers , speed rings & tightened up, as recommended?

I never mess around pulling bearings apart to clean just occasionally drop in some lube when they sound noisey or look sluggsh

there's no difference between scooter and skate bearings right? I just saw an online shop with Bones Reds 50% off, so £9.50 or so, the website says "bones reds scooter bearings" but in the photo on the box it says "skate bearings". anyway i bought them, a tenner for a set of bearings is alright!

.. in fact i looked at the shop close, they seem to be selling exactly the same bones reds bearings seperately under the "longboard", "skate" and "scooter" sections of their site with 3 different prices!

Personally I use Speedlube about £1.99 delivered off Ebay or Bones speed cream for not too much more from the interweb, but am aware that Bronson has just released some alleged super dooper tech stuff apparently

Sewing machine/gun oil. You get a big bottle for a few quid and it's the same as what they charge a fortune for in a tiny bottle they've written 'skate lube' on.

Hi, thanks for the replies, quick update, cleaned the bearings and re-lubed with copper grease, much smoother, didn't fancy using oil as its too runny at least with the grease there's a better chance of it staying where it should be.

Grease felt a bit too sticky, so cleaned it out with carb cleaner and re-lubed with synthetic oil, will see how it goes, incidentally 22mm copper tube is just the right diameter for knocking bearings into place.
