Either pass on CD's to Carl or me, or the mailing details are on the 'submissions' page here http://www.voltagerecords.com
Just mark it 'Gnarly Dude3' on the envelope & stick a note in to say who its from (including forum name, so we know who's who!)

Like Tim said ... Tim's head of Record label ... i just work for the label (grumble)

What we are after are bands that are gigging and able to promote the CD, but thats not to say that we would ignore a good studio based band

also we really require a standard of recording as well, because not everyone can see past a crappy recording job

Yeah, its all about mutual promo. The CD promotes the bands & the sponsors, the sponsors promote the CD & the bands AND the bands promote the CD & the sponsors!
So we need bands who promote.
IE: on their websites, at their gigs, mailouts & press releases.
So we prefer exclusive tracks or versions, not something from a demo that everyones already bought, so bands can sell them at gigs, or fans order them from shops.
If songs need to be re-recorded, it can be done in my studio for an 'expenses' fee of £50...unlimited time (but when I say go home....you go! )

Chuck Treece has plugged it on all the Leiana press & mailouts. If everyone did that we'd be cooking! But alas, bands are bands and most of them cant be arsed....
Sorry if it sounds cynical, but compilations only work if EVERYONE pulls their weight.

Wish I'd have known about GD when our band was recording, we cut a whole album, and were gigghing twice weekly, unfortunately it all came to an end when the drummer hit my replacement bassist when I was away in the alps for 6 months snowboarding, I came home to find no band

If anyone would like to hear any of our stuff, just holla!

Wasn't sure where to post it...

But Gnarly Dude 3 arrived in the post...

And it was awesome! Listened to it.... and discovered an overwhelming urge to get up and go skating (unfortunately it was dark and wet but still!).

So yes, this album is absolutely great! Go get it, listen to it lots :D

Various Artists - Gnarly Dude 3! (Voltage)
Another instalment and again a real mixed bag of indie, punk and rock here over 26 tracks. I didn’t check the listing out first again and made a note of the tracks I enjoyed the most. These bands ended up being 4 that I already liked and 1 new band. I could have almost looked at the artists and picked out the ones I would like, I'm so predictable! So the bands of note are Vanilla Pod, ICH, Phinius Gage and AFS. The new discovery is Crouch Mog - need to check them out further. Some bad recordings on here which is a shame but overall a good sampler for many genres and a decent way to discover new bands.

Re: Gnarly Dude 3!

would you include an electronic tune on one of the GD compilations? i'm in the middle of making a new tune called 'Shredder'. I will email you a 320kbps mp3 when it's done if you like, the worst that can happen is you call it shit and laugh

Re: Gnarly Dude 3!

hello.... sorry for the delay .....

the gnarly dude CD project finished a few years ago ... mainly since we had done 3 and the last one took almost a year to complete..

but if we were still doing them a electronic track would have been accepted since we didnt limit the inclusion of any style as long as it was done by skaters
