Was in the Vans park October 05 - Very nice indoor concrete bowl, and various wood curves of all sorts - Something for everyone.
I found the out door concrete area a bit naff, but didn't have time to suss out the lines as the one time I got there we only had 45 mins before the BMX bike time slot started, when we poor skaters got pushed out.
Good shop there - Decks about half UK prices.
You might find that Vans have opened their artificial surf spot by the time you get there - Looks like it will be fun.........

great park!
smooth mini-midi ramp, big vert ramp and nice bowl
take your own board if you can, hire boards are crap and ruined it for me
avoid weekends and evenings if in usa school hols as it will be packed.
if you pick up the free voucher books that you find in most diners etc. you will get a free second session

Can agree with above comments on crap hire boards - Would have ruined it for me too, but had bought a complete new set up for my cabin boy, and was able to apply a bit of Piracy to it (Thanks for the training PJ).
I tried three hire boards - all tried to kill me! Very strong complaint put in to Vans management. Everything else smacked of quality - Even nice loo's!
Check the opening times before you go - It could be a dedicated BMX or Rollerblade sesh when you arrive - You will not be allowed in on a skateboard!
Plenty of shops in the same Mall for wives - Same old S**t!

Yup, I skated Vans about three years ago but th Orlando outdoor park was just opening up.
The Van's outdoor area is death in the humidity so avoid at all cost. The vert and skatelite ramps are beautiful.
I am taking my own set up with me this time to avoid having to hunt around for something nice but I'll still get some trucks and wheels.
Like many stores here they can't afford to sit with great wads of stock gathering dusk but the better stores I found were :
University Surf & Skate just down from Van's (got a mini-ramp in the store)
and
Galactic in Orlando city which has tons of longies and ol school stuff for old gits.

I've skated the Orlando skatepark a few times. Really nice flow bowl, maybe a bit too much flatbottom in spots, but still super nice for the money. If you've never skated a pool before, then you have to try theirs out. The shallow end doesn't quite make it to vert but it's close enough, big sticky-outie pool coping all the way around, super fun. The mini in the 'grom' area is really really fun to dork around on. 5$ for a really long session, I've never had the energy to skate for my full $5...
I've been to the Oveido park but couldn't get in due to the lack of helmet, and their lack of a proshop... It looks spectacular in person. Next time I go to Orlando, it's going to be the spot I hit. I think it's $5 too.
I'm sure Vans is nice, but a session costs around $15 and you only get 2 hours or something retarded like that.
