Which width trucks do I need?

Postby Alec » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:45 pm

Hopefully this thread will answer those questions that keep cropping up on truck widths.
Please bear in mind of course that wheel choice will affect the overall width of the assembled undercarriage and as always it's all down to individual preference as to whether you like your wheels to be flush with the deck or sticking out a bit.

One slightly frustrating thing is the way some manus measure trucks by quoting hanger width others total axle width.
To work out overall width if only a hanger width is quoted adding 2 3/4" should give you an approximate total.

Not sure, it's an old table I saved a few years back so probably 8 or 9, which I guess would explain 109's being on there.

Wow, 2mm off of hanger width, is that why Stage 10 are lighter?

No mention of Tensor trucks above?

Is this because they only make trucks that fit finger boards? Or is it simply because they are not that good?

There is a Google-calc on this issue also. I downloaded a copy and I don't know where the original is. In that sheet weight and axle off-set is provided.

Here it is I think.

There's also a Venture 5.8 now, which fits decks from 8.5 up. It's a high truck.
Doesn´t like decks with dolphins or Bob Marley painted on.

I am running Indy 11 159s on an 8.38 deck and they feel too big, and tbh a bit high. Thought I might take advantage of some Black Friday deals and put these on evil bay. Any recommendations as to an alternative. Deck size feels perfect so won't go any bigger. Also be up for a swap. These are mint condition.
