I'm going to give (small) f/s airs to tail a try. I also love crailstalls. There was a period where they seemed to crop up a lot in my instagram feed. Trying them on a bank at the park at the moment, but finding grabbing the nose with the back hand a little unnatural at the moment.

Actually, in my most recent session I attempted 50-50 grinds and managed to get a couple of really long, reasonably controlled ones and made it back into the bowl. It felt quite good.

Relearning backside RnRs with some kind of elegance. Frontside are way off.

Proper feeble to fakie and not simply my 'feeble to sliding into a rock position and back in fakie' - not to say it's not fun, but it ain't the real deal.

Handplants. Over rotate, every time.

Staplegun. Ought to be easy, but it's terrifying.

I shall be working on frontside grinds for as long as i can skateboard. They're the Goldberg Variations of skateboarding as far as I'm concerned.

Getting feeble fakie back(had them locked then busted up my foot had surgery and now I lost them), nose stall frontside reverts(halfway there), no handed sweepers(landed 1 went straight into the steel dollies my 31 coupe is on and busted up my foot). Other crap to but those are lower on my radar for now.

I've learnt a few new ones this year and then almost immediately lost them. Backside no complies and big spin no complies are key culprits. Trying to get them back now, along with consistent (and non shit) varial flips and kickflips that are more than an inch off the ground.

Also, anything on transition. I mean just about anything....

FS roll-in on overhead transitions. Can do them ok when the ramp is smaller, but damned if I can control the drop when the ramp's higher than shoulder-height. I can get to the other side of the ramp, roll up, then kickturn down, but I'm only getting half-way up. Given that the whole point is to get to the opposite transition with masses of speed, this isn't much use to me. I keep dragging my back knee on the way down, for some weird reason. Drains the whole move of all that lovely speed.

I remember when I 'learnt' how to stamp on the tail and catch the nose (Marty Mcfly style) and classed that as a trick. Aim low.


My grasp of FS / BS is not great, so I'd like to get whichever no comply shove it is that goes between my legs.

Trying to get no complies back, both straight and 180. I had them and they were easy. Like Intuitive. I would just do them. Now I can't get the timing right to save my life. It's like instead of just doing them as one motion, I am thinking about the breakdown of each step of the movement, and now I can't get the timing right. That's really frustrating.

Yeah I can do front hurricanes but feeble fakies are screwing my head for some reason. No idea why. Never even slammed on them ever. I just randomly forget how to do things when I can't skate everyday now. "What a drag it is getting old"

Frontside 180 ollie

Just recently I've realised I'm not dedicating enough quality time on learning a trick, I will land a couple of sketchy tries & move on to something else thinking I have accomplished that trick - & then get frustrated when in a weeks time I cant get anywhere near landing said trick............. Its time to change! I will be dedicating a large proportion of my session time to frontside 180 ollies until I've got them on lock & then move onto the backside.

I will be following the Braille skateboarding made simple vol 1 - This will give me the focus to aid my progression.

Frontside grinds on transition.

Getting the frontside ollie higher in the transition and committing more and not freaking out, kicking out of it. Trying to fix the over-rotation that seems to happen some times.

Expanding my rock game outside the comfort zone of backside. I had rock to fakie down when I skated back in the day, but now I can't seem to commit. Decided to try frontside too, but I jump off before even starting to kickturn. Part of what freaks me out is the combination of dusty indoor wooden ramps and high durometer wheels. I've had some slips from fs kickturns and my pads have saved me from busted up knees, elbows and wrists more than once.

Also working my way up to dropping in higher transitions. I dropped in vert as a 15 year old, but now twice the age and fresh back on the board I have to face the fear all over again.

Consistent ollies, I can ollie sometimes, my carpet ollies are a thing of beauty, but actually rolling towards anything bigger than a broom handle (like a curb) and getting over/on it, is very inconsistent. Legs don't do what I tell them to, in the words of Monty Python its "run away, run away". Obviously I'm putting this down to the gear that I am using, and have convinced myself that buying a new, mellower deck, will immediately remedy this issue.

Was playing around with kick flips today for the first time in ages. My preferred ramp was wet, and the park was pretty full, so I joined a couple of kids who were working on theirs and we all took turns at not landing flip tricks. Unexpectedly fun session. I've been so over-focused on mini ramp tricks lately, on the few sessions I've had this winter, that I kinda forgot that it's supposed to be fun. Nice wake up call. Happy Christmas to all, by the way.

That’s rad @GarethV. Just look over your shoulder and kind of keep your weight heel side when coming in on the front 50s. I’m working on back disasters also. I’m on the verge of landing them but need to get my front foot more forward. Keep landing in them with it on the bolts, so it’s sit up there and then move front foot to pop back in. If the rain let’s up I should have them this weekend.
